A syndicate of six headed by Racetree
principal Kevin Dixon has purchased the Danzig horse Monashee Mountain (USA), who this year is standing his first season at the Innisplain stud.
“Monashee Mountain didn’t serve in Australia last season and Coolmore offered us the opportunity to stand him this season,”
says Kevin.
“I accepted the offer and then thought it would probably be better to buy him outright, which we did.
“A small syndicate of six people, including myself, now own him.”
An 11-year-old Monashee Mountain, who scored his four victories, from seven starts, in
Group 3 and Listed Races, has proven himself to be a successful sire in both hemispheres since being retired to stud in Ireland and Australia in 2001.
His progeny to have raced in Australia feature the QTC Stradbroke
Handicap-Gr.1 winner La Montagna, the CJC Canterbury Belle Stakes-LR heroine
Cherry Creek, the stakes placed winner Monashee Princess and the speedster
Sir Monashee, who is a winner of the Gold Coast R.M.Williams Magic Millions Sprint.
His northern hemisphere offspring include the stakes winners Le Giare, Kay Two, Don Pele, Shamoan and Jader.
Monashee Mountain is standing this season at a service fee of $11,000 and Kevin expects him to attract around 120 mares.
