Knocked out by Not a Single Doubt

AT the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale Bell River Thoroughbreds sold an athletic son of Not a Single Doubt for $90,000 to bloodstock agent Paul Beamish. That horse now races under the name of Seasons Star in Hong Kong and is the winner of five races and more than $HK3.36m, and he is still racing.


Eureka Stud

WHEN Andrew McAlpine founded Eureka Stud on the Darling Downs in 1935 he could not have imagined the success that was to come the way of this family-owned thoroughbred nursery. In recent times horses like AJC Oaks winner Just Now, Magic Millions 2YO Classic heroine Sea Cabin and the brilliant brothers Spirit of Boom and Temple of Boom have flown the flag for the stud.


Canning Downs

CANNING Downs on the Darling Downs of Queensland near Warwick is the oldest thoroughbred farm in Queensland, having produced racehorses since 1842. This is proven horse country and from reasonably small foal crops Canning Downs has produced winners of 29 Gr.1 races.


Holbrook Thoroughbreds

 THE Harris family has been raising good horses for generations and Julie Harris, the latest in a long line of experienced thoroughbred breeders, is carrying on the good work at her lovely property in the epicentre of the breeding industry in the Hunter Valley. Holbrook Thoroughbreds is a family owned boutique broodmare and agistment farm in prime thoroughbred country about 15 kilometres east of Scone on the Pages River. 


Riversdale Farm

RIVERSDALE Farm, in the heart of thoroughbred country at Scone, is a family run broodmare farm established by Peter and Alison Hodges and now run by their son Nick. Riversdale has been rearing and breeding winners for more than 30 years and recent stars to come off the Hunter Valley farm include Black Jag, a winner of more than $450,000 and the very talented My Destiny who won the Lough Neagh Stakes–LR and earned $345,000. 


Sledmere Stud

SLEDMERE Stud is located on the edge of Scone in the heart of thoroughbred country of the Upper Hunter Valley, and is operated by Catriona (Treen) and Royston Murphy. It has a long and proud history of producing high class racehorses, and the husband and wife team took over the management of Sledmere in 2014 and have enjoyed their first year running the farm together.
