Freshman Profile

An unbeaten two year-old, winning on debut at six furlongs, Aclaim was even better at three winning the Group II Newmarket Challenge Stakes at seven furlongs, a distance that would become his ideal trip. At four, Aclaim hit top form to win the Group II Doncaster Park Stakes (7f) before ending his career with a definitive win in the Group I Prix de la Foret (7f) at Chantilly on Arc Day. A horse that has an Australian connection as he was bred and raced in partnership by Darling Downs based breeders Canning Downs, he retired with the overall record of seven wins and two placings from 15 starts. From the family of champion staying sire sire Montjeu, Aclaim is the best colt in his female family over sprint distances and retired with a 123 Timeform rating, a figure superior to both his noted speed sire Acclamation and that horse’s outstanding sire son Dark Angel, who stands at a fee of 85,000 euros. Aclaim was well received at the National Stud last year covering a large book of mares with 130 scanned in foal. His first foals are now being born and have impressed breeders in the UK with their substance, quality and strength.

  • Group I winning sprinter of the Prix de la Foret.
  • Precocious enough to win at two and trained on at three and four.
  • By Acclamation, renowned speed sire of outstanding sire Dark Angel
  • Trainer Martyn Meade said ‘Aclaim was a joy to have in the yard. He’s a handsome horse and not just deeply talented, but extremely genuine.’
