A close finish at Lombok

Good news from Arrowfield stud overnight, freshman sire Charge Forward has had his first starter in Japan, come out as a winner.

  A juvenile colt, Vilmart (ex Soap Opera by Lord Waverley), may have been six months younger than the remainder of the field but he made easy work of his opposition in the Japanese Racing Association’s ¥13,400,000 Newcomer 3YO Handicap, racing clear to win by almost two lengths over 1400m last weekend.
  Purchased from the Bellerive Draft(as agent for Paulyn Investments Pty Ltd) for $350,000 at last year’s William Inglis & Son Easter Yearling Sale, Vilmart was the most expensive yearling by his sire in 2008.
