Australian bred, Hong Kong owned and trained galloper Sacred Kingdom will defend his title as the world’s best sprinter in England when he lines up in the Group I Golden Jubilee Stakes (1200m) at Royal Ascot on June 20.
Sacred Kingdom (Encosta de Lago - Courtroom Sweetie by Zeditave) will clash with Australia’s harden-warrior Takeover Target (Celtic Swing - Shady Stream by Archregent), who arrived in England from Singapore on Monday.sacred_kingdom2
Perth sprinter Scenic Blast (Scenic - Daughter’s Charm by Delgado) is also Royal Ascot bound and will leave Melbourne tonight.
Scenic Blast had some light exercise at Flemington this morning under his Ascot bound jockey, Steve Arnold, however, his main targets are the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) and the Group I July Cup at Newmarket, July 10th.
The unbeaten Hungarian sprinter Overdose (Starborough - Our Poppet by Warning), winner of the Group 2 Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche, has been withdrawn from the Golden Jubilee due to a hoof problem.
Victorian bred Sacred Kingdom has won 12 of his 18 starts for prizemoney of just over $4 million.  He was purchased out of the 2005 William Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling sale for $200,000 and his latest win was in Singapore when he won the KrisFlyer Sprint (1200m) in thrilling fashion.
Takeover Target’s trainer Joe Janiak also selected him, however, he only paid $1,250 for the rising ten-year-old at William Inglis Winter Thoroughbred sale in 2003.  Takeover Target has raced 40 times and has won 21 of those starts he has placed in another ten earning Janiak and his son Ben more than $6million.
Scenic Blast was bred in Western Australia by Durham Lodge and he was purchased by his trainer Dan Morton.  Morton found him at the 2006 Magic Milions Perth yearling sale where he gave $85,000 for the son of Scenic.  Scenic Blast has seven wins and as many placings from 17 starts on his resume with earnings of more than $1.5million.
