Coolmore Stud’s Oratorio sired his first stakes winner during the world famous Royal Ascot meeting when Big Audio took out the Listed Chesham Stakes by a short head.
Trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Richard Hughes defied 15 rivals to show great resilience to win his maiden in the black type event.
The colt had previously finished second over six furlongs and showed improvement when stepping up a furlong.  Big Audio, was bred by Stephen Sullivan, was bought for £87,000 at the 2008 Doncaster St Leger Yearling Sale by Peter Doyle Bloodstock.
Oratorio (Danehill -  Mahrah by Vaguely Noble) won the Group I Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere over 1400m as a juvenile.  He improved again in his classic season winning the Group I Sandown Eclipse Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes both over 2000m.   Retiring to Coolmore with six wins on his 15-start resume he has sofar  sired four individual winners from 13 runners in the northern hemisphere.   He has also appealed to breeders in the southern hemisphere covering more than 400 mares during his first three seasons at stud at Coolmore’s property in New South Wales.   Returning again this spring his fee has been set at $22,000 (inc gst) that’s $5,500 off his 2008 fee.
