Testa Rossa, an outstanding Australian racehorse and a first class sire standing now at Vinery in the Hunter Valley after starting off at Yallambee at Romsey in Victoria, gained his fourth European stakes winner when his lightly raced 4-year-old daughter Big Monologue was successful in a Listed event over 1600m at Frankfurt in Germany in mid June.

Although Big Monologue, now winner of four of 16 starts, was foaled in Ireland, she was got in France, a country in which Testa Rossa received modest support when he visited from Victoria in 2003 and 2004. That use has resulted todate in 33 starters for 21 winners, including successes in Germany, France and America, and five others placed.

The other three stakes winners have been in France and are Blue Chagall (a Group 3 winner at Longchamp),Testama (four wins) and Silent Sunday (four wins from12 starts). Silent Sunday is a half-sister to Snow Vallley, a winner in France by the shuttling glamour Aussie sire Choisir, while Testama is from a mare by Highest Honor, a Kenmare France Group1 winner and influential European sire.

Testama is bred on similar lines to Publishing, the good Testa Rossa Melbourne sprinter making his debut as a sire this year at the Raheen stud at Gladfield,Queensland. He is from a daughter of the Australian bred Kenmare VRC Lightning Stakes winner Keltrice.

Testa Rossa’s latest European stakes winner, Big Monologue, is from a daughter of Bestow, a half-sister by Shirley Heights to the Swettenham stud bred Bineyah (IRE), a Sadler’s Wells Yorkshire Oaks second and Irish Oaks fourth who produced foals at Arrowfield by Flying Spur and Redoute’s Choice. Moved to Emirates Park at Murrurundi, she died near the end of November last year shortly after producing a foal by Dubai Destination (USA).
