The globalisation of the breeding industry has never been more evident than when you look at the catalogue for the forthcoming Arqana yearling sale with a number of Australian stallions being represented at the sale.
Australian horses are now accepted without fear or favour on the world stage and, as the recent Royal Ascot victory of Scenic Blast amply illustrates, the quality of Australian horses compares with the best in the world.
It’s understandable therefore that when Australia’s leading sires Encosta de Lago and Redoute’s Choice make their debut in the French sales ring their offspring will be heavily inspected and go on many buyers shortlists.
Redoute’s Choice recently sired his 15th Group 1 winner when his son Musir triumphed in South Africa and the Arrowfield stallion will be represented by Lot 208, a bay colt out of a Kingmambo half-sister to USA Grade 1 winner Point Ashley and Grade 2 winner Raw Gold

Encosta de Lago

Encosta de Lago

Australia’s reigning champion sire, Encosta de Lago will be represented by three lots - two fillies and a colt.  Lot 164 is a chestnut filly with tremendous residual value, being a half-sister to Group 1 winner Atticus and her dam is a Group 2 winning daughter of Secretariat.  While his lone colt, lot 160, a bay is out of a half- sister to Sligo Bay (Group 1) from the family of Singspiel and Rahy so he will have stallion potential later on.  While
A bay filly, a half-sister to Heckie a Group 3 winner and from a mare by Unfuwain, will go under the hammer early in the sale as lot 42.
Other stallions represented in the catalogue that stand down-under are Red Ransom (six lots), Exceed And Excel (two fillies), Danehill Dancer (11), Cape Cross (four), Galileo (20), Montjeu (16), More Than Ready (a lone colt) and the recently deceased Anabaa (five).
The catalogue also features yearlings by leading sires Pivotal, Distorted Humour, Monsun, Dansili and Verglas.
Arqana graduates have won three classics this season with Le Havre (French Derby), Silver Frost (Group 1 Poule d’Essai) along with Hong Kong star Collection (Hong Kong Derby).  The sales company can boast that graduates  have won the last three runnings of the French Derby including Vision D’Etat and Lawman
The Arqana sale, is the first yearling sale on the European circuit and it gets under way on Friday 14th August concluding on Monday 17th August.  For further information contact Arqana’s representative in Australia,  Damon Gabbedy -  damong@bigpond.com or visit the website
