On the second day of trade of the Deauville August Yearling Sale, 105 yearlings were on offer returned results almost identical to those registered a year earlier. The median price remained stable at €100,000, while 12 lots passed the €200,000 mark against 13 in 2008.  Turnover for the session dropped by five percent at €9,385,000 (including private sales). These figures represent a remarkable performance considering the current economic context as well as the record level of the 2008 results.
   Turnover for the first two sessions remains €1,5 million Euros clear of the 2008 figures.
Highlights of the second day:
• Lot 121, who was only the third lot through the ring, caused quite a stir and was eventually snapped up by Darley’s John Ferguson for €300,000. This Pivotal filly is the first foal of the Listed winner Relais D’Aumale. She was consigned by Haras des Capucines.
• Lot 127, a colt by sire of the moment Cape Cross from Haras de la Louvière, went the way of Anthony Stroud on a €280,000 bid. The bay is out of the Royal Academy mare Seralia, who was a Listed winner and Gr.3 placed at two, and has already produced the Prix de Psyché (Gr.3) victrix Serisia and Listed performer Sandbox.
• Lot 208 was a rare offering in a European sales catalogue as a son of Redoute’s Choice, produced during the Northern Hemisphere covering season.  Consigned by Haras d’Etreham, he attracted a closing big of €280,000 from Shadwell.
• Lot 215, a son of Oasis Dream offered from Haras des Capucines, reached the same price tag and was also bought by Shadwell.
• Lot 150, a Galileo filly from Haras du Mézeray, was knocked down to MAB Agency for €240,000. She is the second foal of the winning mare Whisper To Dream, herself a daughter of the outstanding Hatoof, who won the 1,000 Guineas, Champion Stakes and Beverly D. Stakes, all Group One.
  The final days selling is tomorrow, Monday August 17th, and gets under way from 5:00 pm (NH).
