Bluezar Shines for Murphy in Warwick Farm Trial

Bluzar, one of Murphy’s Blu Boy’s first crop juvenile winners last season, showed she had lost none of her dash by running the fastest time of 13 trials over 800m at Warwick Farm last Friday.
The Marc Connors-trained three-year-old filly, who won over 1000m at Gosford on debut in June, powered away to win her 800m heat in 46.7, beating the Commands filly Angel’s Decree by five lengths and with French Poppy (Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) third.
Bluezar has obviously inherited her sire’s speed and most will remember the Baerami Thoroughbreds-based stallion winning four of his five juvenile starts by big margins, including a seven-length romp in the MRC Blue Diamond Preview-Gr.3 (1000m) at Caulfield. Murphy’s Blu Boy is by the Mr. Prospector grandson Blu Tusmani (USA) (Afleet-Edelene by Nijinsky), who was a Champion 2YO Colt in Italy before coming to Australia for stud duty.
Murphy’s Arch, dam of Murphy’s Blu Boy, won six races and is by the speedy Archregent (CAN), also broodmare sire of champion Takeover Target. Second dam Ann Juliet (dam of Gr.2 winner I Am A Ripper) is by another speedster in Bletchingly and from the Gr.2-winning juvenile Torn Monarch (Sir Tristram (IRE)). This is the family of Cox Plate winner Dane Ripper (Danehill (USA)).
Bluezar’s dam Zarsho is by Golden Slipper runner-up Shovhog (Danehill-Startling Lass by Luskin Star) and from the stakes placed Zabeel mare Zaroyale, a sister to Winter Cup-LR winner Verb. Next dam Darra Princess is by Golden Slipper winner Vain from Alstar, a daughter of Alderney (GB) and Ricochet’s sister Quality Star, by the first Golden Slipper winner Todman.
Murphy’s Blue Boy has had two winners and three placegetters from just 10 runners and stands at Paul Higgins’ Baerami Valley (near Denman) property on a fee of $5500. A handsome and very correct horse, Murphy’s Blu Boy also hails from the family of champion mare Ripa.
