History will be made this month when all of Victoria’s major grain marketers come together for the first time to participate in the inaugural Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) Grain Marketing Roadshow.
VFF Grains Group President Russell Amery said the Victorian grains industry has demonstrated a level of cooperation unseen in the past decade, with the VFF bringing grain marketers together to participate in a series of forums aimed at providing growers with all the information they need to make the most of the new liberalised grain market.
“Never before have we seen all of Victoria’s major grain marketers together in the one room for growers to access. Growers now have the opportunity to attend one meeting and hear about all the grain marketing options. With 11 forums held across Victoria from 21 – 24 September there is no excuse for growers not to attend,” Mr Amery said.
“Support from the Grain Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) demonstrates how seriously the Corporation takes the need for free access to reliable information and we welcome their support.
“Each forum will feature a sit down meal and two hours of concise marketing information provided by some of the best people in the business. Our brokers Agfarm will facilitate the forums, illustrating their role as the link between growers and marketers.
“The forums will be held on Monday 21st September (in Hamilton, Lake Bolac and St Arnaud); Tuesday 22nd September (in Murtoa, Nhill and Birchip); Wednesday 23rd September (in Ouyen, Swan Hill and Echuca); and Thursday 24th September (in Tungamah and Marong).
“The participating companies include AWB; ABB; CBH; Elders Toepfer; Louis Dreyfus; Graincorp; and Wimmera Grain. Each company has put forward their most experience grain marketers who know the ins and outs of the grain marketing options offered by their respective companies.
“Grain growers have previously expressed frustration at the lack of cooperation between industry members. By coming together, these companies are acknowledging the changes that have occurred to the nature of the grains industry and the role that they each now play.
“The VFF Grains Marketing Roadshow is all about growers having access to open, honest grain marketing information in the one place, at the one time,”
Mr Amery concluded.
