Singapore trainer Don Baertschiger made his presence felt at the Gold Coast during the second session when he went to $110,000 to secure a colt by exciting young Queensland sire Hidden Dragon.
The colt, a half-brother to group winner Don’t Tell Clang, impressed Baertschiger with a 10.73 second gallop over 200m at the Gold Coast on Monday.
“His  breeze up did impress me, however, I was taken by his lovely action.”
“He should really be suited to our style of racing in Singapore,” he added.
The brown colt was one of a number of top prospects from Victoria’s Centaur Park Thoroughbreds who sold well.
The Centaur team provided five of the top eight priced horses - Baertschiger bought two of them - colts by Dane Shadow and Al Samer - both cost $80,000 each.
Sydney based trainer David Payne picked up a pair of top prospects by Lucky Owners for $90,000 and $85,000 respectively.
Also in the action was Whobegotyou’s owner Laurence Eales, who went to $85,000 to secure the sole lot in the sale by his star’s sire, Street Cry.
The filly offered by Epsom Lodge attracted strong interest from locals and overseas clients.
131 racehorses were offered for sale selling for $2.77 million at a healthy average price of $21,153.
The clearance rate of 74 per cent was strong and is sure to grow over the coming days as more deals are struck.
Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said the momentum from the first sessions trade continued through today.
“I’m rapt with the final figures for both sessions,” Chester said. “We worked hard in attracting a big buying bench to the Gold Coast and we were rewarded with really positive results.”
“We had horses sell to most states of Australia as well as Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Iran.”
