Racing and Breeding
Melbourne, Vic (December 29, 2009) - Two QTIS qualified yearlings at the upcoming Gold Coast Magic Millions beg to be inspected – a son of Jet Spur who has made such an encouraging start to his stud career – and a daughter of Red Dazzler whose first crop make their sales debut.
To be sold under the draft of Robyn Wise, the pair bred and raised by the Twine family – enthusiastic breeders – are both from high class, in-form families.
Lot 800 is the first of the pair to go through the ring, a chestnut son of Flying Spur’s two times Group winning sprinter Jet Spur. Closely related to the outstanding stallion Zeditave, he has hit the ground running with his two-year-olds.
Slice And Dice, True Blue Angel, Jenelle and Power Of Ed are smart early winners for the popular Glenlogan based stallion who sits fourth in the leading 2Y0 sire chart as well as being the second leading first season sire.
Bred on a 4 X 4 cross of speed influence Biscay, this September 23 foaled colt is a half brother out of the lightly raced Loopy to the classy Singapore galloper Handsome Jazz. A stakes placed six times winner of over S$350,000, he only recently kicked off another campaign and is bound to soon be in the winner’s circle again.
Loopy, daughter of the city winning mare Giggle Gert, is a half sister to the 12 times winner Star Of The Galaxy and this is the outstanding family of the Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes heroine Merlene and her dual Gr.1 winning half sister Miss Pennymoney.
Group winners Alshandegha, Honalee, Bold Promise, Merlene de Lago (one of South Africa’s best fillies of her year) and Compulsion also hail from this prolific family.
“He has the size and scope of his sire,” said Robyn Wise, “and he will mature into an outstanding individual.”
Lot 1175 also boasts a high number of feature race winning relations, the early October foaled bay an excellent dual purpose proposition for potential buyers.
She hails from the first crop of the late Red Ransom’s Gr.1 Toorak Handicap winning son Red Dazzler. And what a nicely bred filly she is from a pedigree enthusiast’s perspective – her sire bred on a 4 X 5 cross of Nearctic and her dam boasting a rare strain of that influential stallion’s close relation Count Rendered. Therefore line-bred to the famed matriarch Sister Sarah, this filly is a half sister out of the lightly raced Katiki to the promising Vikram who is close to a win after finishing a game runner up at his last two outings.
Katiki is a half sister to the stakes placed multiple city winner Allure and the excellent broodmare Rangiora – three times metropolitan winning dam of the Gr.3 mare Tasman Dancer and ancestress of the Gr.1 winners Winestock and Headturner as well as the stakes winners Danasar, Viennetta, Butterscotch, Kroner, Eire Hostess and Sukram.
Another member of this family is the exciting filly Fusette who looked so good winning at debut at Doomben in late October.
“She has really thrown to her grandsire Red Ransom,” Wise said – “she is strong and well balanced and an early comer for sure.”
Be sure to inspect these two good looking, well related yearlings at the Gold Coast!
