Melbourne, Vic (Jan 6th, 2010) - The Racing Post website reports the Turkish stallion ranks look set to grow considerably this year with a deal in the pipeline by the Jockey Club of Turkey and Coolmore to purchase Powerscourt (Sadler’s Wells - Rainbow Lake by Rainbow Quest) , Dehere (Deputy Minister - Sister Dot by Secretariat) and Lion Heart (Tale of the Cat - Satin Sunrise by Mr Leader).
Another two American based stallions are also thought to be on the shopping list of the Jockey Club.
Should the deal go through, the Coolmore trio will join 21 other stallions standing under the management of the Jockey Club of Turkey in Izmit that include Divine Light (Sunday Silence - Meld Sport by Northern Taste) and Unaccounted For (Private Account - Mrs Jenney by The Minstrel).
The Turkish Jockey Club had previously purchased the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes winner Victory Gallop (Cryptoclearance - Victorious Lil by Vice Regent) who had stood at WinStar Farm in Kentucky in 2008.
Dehere and Lion Heart both stood in Australia last spring for $33,000 (inc gst) and $11,000 (inc gst) respectively, and both are advertised to stand the northern season at Coolmore’s Kentucky arm, Ashford Stud, for US$10,000 and US$12,500, while Powerscourt stands at the operation’s Irish base and his fee had been set at  €7,500 in 2010.
