Melbourne, Vic (Jan 18th, 2010) - News from Yarraman Park Stud in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, young Danehill stallion Foreplay (ex Procrastinate by Jade Hunter) had his first winner over the weekend when his son Decision Time scored on debut at Kembla Grange.
But the achievement hasn’t got Arthur Mitchell and his team smiling as the eight-year-old stallion is now considered infertile.
“His fertility has never been that brilliant although was manageable when he was at around 70%, but it has gradually become worse and despite extensive testing and advice from experts both in Australia and overseas we have to accept that the horse has become infertile,” Mitchell’s statement on his website states.
“Foreplay will remain at Yarraman for the time being as we continue to monitor him in the hope of some improvement although he will not be standing in 2010 and covered only two mares last year which were on a free return and got neither in foal.”
Decision Time is trained at Warwick Farm by Clarry Conners and the gelding had looked the goods when winning a barrier trial at Warwick Farm, January 8.  On Saturday, he ran right up to his trial effort to stride clear to win the 900m maiden by nearly two lengths.
Not offered for sale, Decision Time is from the metropolitan winning Just Awesome mare Daunting Thought from the family of English Group One winner Hittite Glory.
Foreplay will have some yearlings at the forthcoming sales for consideration.  At the William Inglis Classic sale next week six yearlings are listed to be sold at Newmarket in Sydney (January 24-25th).  In Western Australia at the Magic Millions sale (January 28th - 31st) he has a lone filly to be sold.  While in New Zealand at Karaka a lone colt will be offered during the Festival session of the sale (February 7th -8th).
