Star mare Typhoon Tracy is the standout nomination for Saturday’s $504,000 Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.The Futurity Stakes, a weight-for age race over 1600 metres, is the first leg of the 2010 Asian Mile Challenge. With over $11 million on offer in prize money and bonuses, the Asian Mile Challenge is the world’s richest mile race series.
Typhoon Tracy, already a three-time Group 1 winner, could be bound for overseas to compete in one or two of the other legs of the Asian Mile Challenge which include Group 1 races in Dubai (27 March), Hong Kong (25 April) and Japan (6 June).

Typhoon Tracy is one of 10 nominations for Saturday’s feature, with only Snipers Bullet and Lord Tavistock enjoying success at the elite level.
Typhoon Tracy’s most recent Group 1 victory came three weeks ago in the Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 6 February. Snipers Bullet has won two Group 1 events (Railway Stakes and Kingston Town Stakes) in Perth during their Summer Carnival to add to his Stradbroke Handicap victory in Brisbane in June 2007. Lord Tavistock, who was previously trained by Mick Price at Caulfield, won a Group 1 weight-for-age race at his last start in New Zealand, where he raced under the name of Tavistock.
Of the others that have been nominated is Dao Dao, trained by the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes combination. Dao Dao, has raced in both Sydney and Hong Kong and has run in the Champions Mile in Hong Kong for the past two years, which is the third leg of the Asian Mile Challenge. Last year, Dao Dao finished third in the Champions Mile behind Sight Winner and Egyptian Ra while in 2008, he finished eighth behind the multiple Group 1 champion of Hong Kong, Good Ba Ba.
