Melbourne, Vic (March 1st, 2010) - The 2010 Inglis Premier yearling sale is underway at the Oakland’s Junction complex with the first hours trade seeing more than $1.1million change hands and five lots selling for more than $100,000.

Successful syndicator Denise Martin from Star Thoroughbreds signed the ticket for the highest priced yearling during the opening hour of $170,000 for lot 11 a chestnut filly from the draft of Three Bridges Thoroughbreds. 

By Starcraft (Soviet Star – Flying Floozie by Pompeii Court), sire of this year’s Blue Diamond winner Star Witness,  from the Beautiful Crown mare Bella Inez, a non-winner that hails from the family of the Caulfield Guineas winner, In Top Swing (by Beautiful Crown). 

 Other yearlings that have made more than $100,000 were lot 4, a bay colt by Bel Esprit from Bardego (by Barathea) knocked down to Victorian trainer Robbie Griffiths for $130,000 from the draft of Grange Thoroughbreds.  

 Lot’s 15 and 16 are both off to Hong Kong, George Moore Jnr gave $115,000 for lot 15 a colt from the draft of Manx Park by the Redoute’s Choice Golden Slipper winner Stratum from Benita (by Octagonal).  While the trainer of Hong Kong’s top rated sprinter Sacred Kingdom, Ricky Yiu paid $130,000, for a bay colt from the family of the Group I winners Valedictum and Mighty Avenger from the draft of Swettenham Stud by  Exceed and Excel from Best O’Barossa (by Canny Lad).  

Local bloodstock agent Vin Cox parted with $150,000 for a filly by top New Zealand stallion Pins (Snippets) from the stakes winning Blevic mare Bleveeka.  Offered as lot 18 by South Australian stud Kambula, the filly comes from the family of 2008 Blue Diamond winner, Reward for Effort (by Exceed and Excel).
