Melbourne, Vic (March 10th, 2010) - This week has been a big one for graduates out of the William Inglis Easter sale and it continued today across the Tasman when well-travelled stayer Zavite proved too tough in the Group 1 Auckland Cup (3200m).
Zavite (ex Miss Vita) was offered through the Fairdale Stud draft at the 2004 edition of the sale where his trainer Anthony Cummings paid $80,000 for him. He has proven to be an astute investment by Cummings for his connections.
Today’s victory was his tenth and most important. With his prizemoney heading towards the $2million mark he has now won stakes events in the land of the long white cloud and four states of Australia.
By New Zealand’s leading sire Zabeel out of the Alleged mare Miss Vita, Zavite is her only black type winner. She does however descend from a family that has produced the Group I Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Suave Dancer (by Green Dancer).
Inglis have 14 yearlings by Zabeel catalogued for its Easter yearling sale in April, which runs from Tuesday 6th through to Thursday 8th.
