The 2010 Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale opened with strong gains acrossthe board at Oaklands on Thursday, highlighted by the average rising 28% on last year’s figure.
In all, 172 horses sold for a gross of $2,195,600 at a clearance of almost 80%.
The session was topped by a colt by Darley’s very popular son of Zeditave, Strategic , out of Martella (by Unbridled’s Song) making him a full-brother to Group 3 winner Desuetude selling to Edwards Elkington Racing Victoria for $65,000.
A filly by Zenno Rob Roy and a colt by Blevic colt both sold for more than $50,000.
“We are very pleased with that opening session result today,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.
“Horses that were well prepared and well presented sold extremely well and there was international competition from New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Macau.
“In saying that, there was still some good buying and that will continue into tomorrow’s second session.”
Horses passed in during the day’s trade are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service and the second session begins at 10.30am on Friday and those not attending can watch the sale via the Inglis website.
