In the South African auction ring, trainer Mike Azzie paid a new SA record of R3.6 million (A$514,000) for a colt by former Darley shuttler and Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel during the opening session at the SA Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s 3-day Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale at the TBA Complex at Gosforth Park.
The colt is out of a Group 3 placed Alzao mare, Alignment, and has already been named, Potala Palace, was consigned by Highlands Farm Stud.
Alignment is a half-sister to the dam of Golan and Tartan Bearer.
Form Bloodstock, who regularly raid Australian yearling sales, paid R1.7 million (A$243,000) for a colt by Fort Wood out of Copper Horizon (by Al Mufti), also named, Fort Benson. He was offered on behalf of Ascot Stud and is a half-brother Copper Parade, South African’s top juvenile this season.
