Hussonet had his seventh black type winner of the 2009-10 season when promising juvenile Run For Levi snuck home in the listed Phoenix Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Racing in the colours of Patinack Farm, Run for Levi,  a winner over 1400m two runs back at the Sunshine Coast, started at big odds and showed plenty of fight in the straight to deny Big Chance (Octagonal - Invited by Iglesia) by a short-half-head.

The race favourite, Ringa Ringa Rosie (Bradbury’s Luck - La Guichet by Al Hareb), charged home out wide for third, another long head away.

Run For Levi has now won two of his six starts and looks to have a bright future.   Sold as a foal at foot when his dam Madam Bligh,  a winner of 10 races and $100,000, was offered by Vinery Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to the Patinack team for $340,000.

A half-sister to Group One winner Spark of Life, Madam Bligh is out of the stakes placed Sparkling Bounty (by Celestial Bounty) and has also produced the South African stakes placegetter, Anaboo (by Anabaa).  Madam Bligh has a weanling colt by Patinack’s young stallion Casino Prince and was served last spring by Redoute’s Choice.

Run For Levi gave the Arrowfield based chestnut son of Mr Prospector and Sacahuista (by Raja Baba) his 72nd individual stakes winner and joins six other stakes earners this season that include Group I winner Gold Trail (ex Trail of Gold by Danewin).

Hussonet  is only open to breeders for foal shares this spring.
