Racenet Bloodstock celebrated a rich win as part of the $2.6million Inglis Race Series when impressive colt Breitling took out Saturday’s Inglis Bonus Handicap (1000m) at Caulfield to net a $100,000 bonus.
The win continues a great run for graduates out of the Inglis Premier Sale held in Melbourne at Oaklands Junction.  Breitling ($50,000 2009 Premier, ex Spring Flyte) was heavily backed prior to his debut at Flemington last month where he had to play runners-up to Soul (by Commands).

However, on Saturday the good looking colt turned the tables on Soul, owned by Darley, to claim a sweet victory that netted connections almost $150,000.

“With the Inglis bonus it’s a huge incentive – another $100,000 jumps in,” winning trainer Robert Smerdon said.

“He has good natural ability and the best nature. Hopefully he’s up to better class.”

The colt  was sold to Racenet Bloodstock by Tony Santic’s Makybe, who continues to enjoy world wide success as a breeder and vendor with the headline act being Starspangledbanner who has put two Group 1 wins together in the UK, becoming the highest rated horse to race in Australia this season according to the respected Timeform ratings.

Starspangledbanner was also sold out of the Premier Sale for $120,000, while another Premier graduate, top class sprinter  Sacred Kingdom ($200,000 2005 Premier) was this month named Hong Kong’s Horse of the Year for 2009-10.

The final chance for 2009 Inglis yearling graduates to pick up an Inglis Race Series bonus as two-year-olds comes up at Rosehill on July 31, when another $100,000 bonus will be on offer.
