Illuminates, a five-year-old daughter of Darley stallion Strategic, notched her second stakes win of the season and third of her career on Saturday, coming with a fantastic late run to land the Civic Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.
This was the tenth victory for Gerry Harvey’s homebred, who beat all bar Typhoon Tracy home in this year’s Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) and has now earned over $800,000.
Illuminates is out of the Danzero mare Dazzle Light, herself a daughter of Group 1 winner Travel Light.
Strategic has 21 individual stakes winners to his credit, including Group 1-winning two-year-old Meurice and stands in Victoria at Darley’s Northwood Park base at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
