Show A Heart is soon to be the most talked about stallions in the country after his outstanding son Toorak Toff collected a last stride win in the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill on Saturday.
Toorak Toff travelled from Melbourne to Sydney on Thursday evening without incident with his colourful trainer Rick Hore-Lacy to give him his first win at the elite level in New South Wales since he saddled up Canny Lad to win the Group I Golden Slipper in 1990.

Coming off a fantastic first-up win in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield when he beat a quality field, and again ridden by Damien Oliver, the chestnut colt settled well back in the pack.  With Squamosa driving forward and setting a solid tempo.   Rawiller caused plenty of tightening in the pack when he cut across the front of the field when he was not two lengths clear of his rivals.

Toorak Toff missed the interference being in the second half of the field and then Oliver waited until into the straight before he asked Toorak Toff for his effort and the flashy chestnut delivered the knock out blow to Squamosa a stride before the finishing post to give Show A Heart his second winner at the elite level.

“This is a seriously good horse,” Hore-Lacy told TVN.
“We were forced to drop back further then we intended to try and find cover, but Damien (Oliver) rode him brilliantly.
“There were a couple of very good horses in the race.  He’ll head towards the Guineas Prelude in three weeks time and then on to the Caulfield Guineas after that.”
“I have said almost from the first time we threw a saddle over his back that this is the best horse I have had since Redoute’s Choice and I am not backing away from that statement.
“I have already had three of the biggest studs in Australia contacting me and wanting to get involved in him as he has such great sire appeal because his sire, Show A Heart, is the last of the Star Kingdom line stallions in Australia.”

Toorak Toff is already on the float back to Hore-Lacy’s stables at Caulfield and just to make the result sheet even better for Show A Heart, his multiple group winning son, Rightfully Yours, a six-year-old kept his outstanding fresh record in tact to win the Listed sprint over 1100m in Victoria earlier that afternoon.

The bay gelding travelled on the speed under Glen Boss at Caulfield to hold off  the in-form sprinter Stanzout (by Gallo Di Ferro), who was on a seven-day back up, and Returntosender (by Elusive City) in third.

Rightfully Yours (ex Academy of Dreams by Royal Academy) has won 10 races from his 24-career starts amassing more than $500,000 in prizemoney and continues to deliver his owner-breeders a wonderful return from investment as he’s a full brother to another horse they race, Heart of Dreams winner of the Group I VRC Australian Guineas and MRC Underwood Stakes.

Toorak Toff is the only named foal to date for the unraced Grand Lodge mare Orong.  A daughter of the Group Two Sandown Guineas winner Blixen, Orong is a sister to the multiple stakes winner Avilde (by Grand Lodge)

Toorak Toff’s win was his fifth career victory at his eighth start and took his earnings past $954,000, a tidy profit for his connections, as his part-owner Mr. Bill Van Rooy purchased him from the Magic Millions sale in 2009 from the draft of Glenlogan Park stud for $135,000.

Show A Heart stands in Queensland at Glenlogan Stud for a fee of $30,250 (inc gst)
