Glenlogan Park stallions came out and dominated Brisbane racing at Eagle Farm yet again on Saturday – with three of the big guns of the Queensland sire ranks all registering impressive victories.
Seven days previously, Bradbury’s Luck signalled his intention to leave a future star of the turf when his 3YO filly Ringa Ringa Rosie demolished a quality filed of older mares and this week it was the turn of his three barn-mates to stamp their authority on the Sunshine State’s racing.
Falvelon got the ball rolling in Race 1 when his 5YO gelding Craiglea Falcon took his prize-money earnings flying past the $115,000 mark.
Craiglea Falcon has been a model of consistency throughout his career, having won or placed in 17 of his 33 starts, and thoroughly deserved his decisive victory. Given plenty of time to gather his feet, the gelding found himself at the back of the pack but travelling well within himself.
As they entered the straight he was eased away from the rail, to find a gap between runners, and then charged through to win running away from them.
The next Glenlogan Park stallion to put his name up in lights was Jet Spur, who supplied the winner of the third race with the very tough Equissential.
Having his fourth start in as many weeks, Equissential relished the step up in distance to the mile and really toughed it out to the line to grab victory right in the shadows of the post.
The win took the Jet Spur gelding’s earnings above the $110,000 level – which is a terrific effort for an early season 3YO.
The last leg in the Glenlogan Park stallion Eagle Farm trifecta was supplied by the State’s Champion Sire, Show A Heart.
Shaos, a 7YO proved too strong over the 1800m for his opposition registering back to back wins and showing great versatility.
Show A Heart came within a long neck of claiming the main race in Australia in consecutive weeks when his 5YO gelding Heart Of Dreams defied all bar Shocking in the Group 2 $400,000 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington.
Toorak Toff had taken out the first Group 1 of the season just seven days earlier Heart Of Dreams had shown he is right on target to claim one of the next ones, the Group 1 Underwood Stakes, in two weeks time with a gallant effort after being trapped 3 and 4 wide for the entire trip.
Falvelon 4YO Sherann also proved too strong for her opposition in Perth on Saturday when she charged from the rear of the field to blow away a high-class field over the 1200m. The improving bay mare has now won two of her last three and will be competitive in anything they place her in.
Bradbury’s Luck has another potential star on his hands if the performance of Kennecott in Singapore is repeated.
Kennecott, a 3YO grey gelding, absolutely second-rated his opponents over the 1200m when he careered away by five lengths to win easing down. The victory was the second one in a row that he had dominated and has a big future.
After just over a month of the new racing season Show A Heart leads all other stallions in Australia on the General Sires list, while, Falvelon sits inside the top 15.
