Following hot on the heels of the wonderful results that Queensland bred horses experienced last weekend, comes yet more stakes success for the Sunshine State down in Victoria.

Last weekend saw Queensland’s Champion Stallion, Show A Heart, claim the first G1 race of the season with Toorak Toff in Sydney as well as a strong Listed sprint race with the resuming 6YO gelding Rightfully Yours in Melbourne. That black type success was further added to this week with the very promising Hidden Dragon 3YO colt, Hollowlea, registering a dominant win in the Listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes (1400m).

Hidden Dragon was last week crowned Queensland’s Champion First Season Sire and Champion 2YO Sire from the 2009/2010 racing year and he looks assured of capitalizing on that success with a wonderful start to the new season.

Hollowlea became Hidden Dragon’s first stakes winner and for followers of the youngster the result never really looked in doubt at Flemington on Saturday.

Bouncing well from the barriers, Hollowlea stalked the pace and then switched around heels not long after straightening to win running away in a very impressive performance.

Father-daughter training combination of Terry and Karina O’Sullivan will now head their youngster towards the $200,000 Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes to be run at Moonee Valley on September 24 and he will surely give his opposition plenty to think about.

Hollowlea is another “all Queensland” product taking all before him, having been bred by Darling Downs breeders Mark and Helen Hough and then put through the Magic Millions Sale by Robyn Wise As Agent.

Later in the day at Flemington the Queensland bred and raised Show A Heart gelding Heart Of Dreams signaled he was in for yet another top class campaign by finishing a gallant runner up to last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Shocking in the main race of the day, the $400,000 G2 Makybe Diva Stakes.

Heart Of Dreams will next step out in two weeks time when he tries to defend his crown in the G1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield over 1800m where he is expected to be joined on the day by fellow Queensland bred offspring Toorak Toff in the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude, Ringa Ringa Rosie in the G3 Thousand Guineas Prelude and Rightfully Yours in the G1 Sir Rupert Clark Stakes.
