Iconic Australian trainer Bart Cummings is an avid fan of young Giant’s Causeway sire Shamardal not only as a trainer but also a breeder.
On Saturday it was the latter role he was successful in when No Evidence Needed scored her first win at group level with a win in the Gr.2 Let’s Elope Stakes.

The four-year-old Shamardal mare was bred in a partnership which includes Cummings along with Think Big Stud’s Dato Tan Chin Nam.

No Evidence Needed also has a Kiwi connection being out of Generosa who is by Generous and incidentally spent his last season at stud in New Zealand at Westbury.

The Patinack Farm owned No Evidence Needed was runner-up in the Gr.1 Australasian Oaks last season and looks certain to add to her five victories to date over the rich Spring Carnival.

While Cummings’ is not the trainer of No Evidence Needed he does have another high-class daughter of Shamardal in his stable, VRC Oaks winner, Faint Perfume.

Faint Perfume resumed in So You Think’s Gr.2 Memsie Stakes two weeks ago and has the Melbourne Cup has her main target this preparation.

No Evidence Needed provided Shamardal with his 16th stakewinner worldwide and his eighth in Australia.
The young stallion is one of only three son’s of Champion Giant’s Causeway to stand in Australasia this season.

Giacosa stands in Victoria for a fee of $5,500 the other young stallion Red Giant is based at Westbury Stud in New Zealand.

Red Giant, is the world record holder over 2000 metres, and joined the shuttle to Westbury this spring from his northern hemisphere base, Three Chimney’s.  Only the second stallion to shuttle from the renowned Kentucky stud, the other is,  Kentucky Derby hero Big Brown who is resident at Vinery Australia for the season.
