Mid Summer Music takes Bletchingly

Mid Summer Music (5 m Oamaru Force – Samsara Lady, by Nassipour) registered her first stakes win with a tenacious victory in yesterday’s $125,000 Jeans for Genes Bletchingly Stakes (Gr 3) over 1200m at Caulfield.

Mid Summer Music raced wide  to the home straight and then came with her challenge, tacking onto the back of the Darren Weir-trained  Rue Maple rounding the home turn. Slowly but surely Mid Summer Music edged closer to Rue Maple and at the line did enough to gain a short-head victory over Rue Maple (Rubiton). Stanzout (Gallo di Ferro) made up ground in the straight to finish two length off in third place.

The win capped a great season for trainer Peter Moody. “She has got a great will to win. I stood beside Darren Weir and for the length of the straight I said, ‚Äòyou’ve got me’. At no stage until the last three strides was she ever going to get to the post but she has got an unbelievable will to win. She belies her ability with her will to win.‚Äù

“I’ve got to be honest, she won a maiden at Warracknabeal and I suggested to the owners that she might have had a birthday. Thankfully, at the insistence of Linda Meech she suggested to me there was more in her than I saw.‚Äù

Mid Summer Music has won six races in melbourne this season. Overall she has won eight times from 13 starts for prizemoney totalling $308,401.
