Arrowfield Stud’s top man Redoute’s Choice (Danehill – Shantha’s Choice, by Canny Lad) maintained his lightning start to the season with another metropolitan double on Wednesday.
Darley stallions had the better of the Arrowfield champion last season. Redoute’s Choice finished second to Lonhro (Octagonal – Shadea, by Straight Strike) in the 2010/11 Australian General Sires’ premiership and fifth to Commands (Danehill – Cotehele House, by My Swanee) in the Australian General Sires by winners title.
The Patinack Farm-owned Renewed Vitality (Redoute’s Choice – Real Pzazz, by Green Desert) ploughed through the Randwick mud to win the Harry Barrett Vale Handicap (1300m) on the Kensington. The in-form Achievements (Redoute’s Choice – Rubitoff,¬† by Rubiton) completed the star sire’s double with his second win of the season in the Founding Fathers Plate (1500m) at Eagle Farm.
Achievements is a grand-son of the former top producer Mrs Soffel (The Judge – Pleasant Time, by Bold Flip). The gelding’s dam Rubitoff (Rubiton – Mrs Soffel, by The Judge) was one of two stakes winners Mrs Soffel produced, the other was the multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Rubitano (Rubiton – Mrs Soffel, by The Judge).
The dual success took Redoute’s Choice’s win tally for the season to 18 from 17 individual victors.
Redoute’s Choice’s impressive sire son Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice – Snippets’ Lass, by Snippets) completed a treble for Arrowfield Stud stallions when the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Arakazel (Snitzel – Arakazar, by Zamakima) won the Coopers Premium Light Maiden Plate (1200m) at Gawler.
