Darley shuttle stallion Street Cry (Machiavellian) has a new stakes winner and future classic contender after Godolphin’s Lyric Of Light (2 f Street Cry – Suez, by Green Desert ) charged home in the straight to win Friday’s Group 2 May Hill Stakes over a mile at Doncaster in England.
Lyric Of Light was racing for only the second time but she ran on strongly under Frankie Dettori and defeated Fallen For You (Dansili) a neck with Samitar (Rock Of Gibraltar) back in third.
Trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni said, “She’s a nice filly and we’re lucky with the fillies we’ve got this year. The plan will be to go to France for Group 1 races.¬†The more they run the more they learn. It’s too early to decide if she’s a Guineas filly, but she’s improved and we’ll see her next race then we can decide.”
Dettori was full of praise for Lyric Of Light. “She’s only run the once and there was a big crowd here today. When I went for her she went right and I tried to steer her as much as I could without interfering with the second.
“She’s got a lot of class and won with her ears pricked. Mahmood’s liked her and this was a big jump from her maiden, but the signs are she’s good filly.”
