Sir Percy stakes winner

Rich Hill Stud shuttle stallion Sir Percy (Mark Of Esteem) has made a good start to his stud career and was represented by his first stakeswinner last weekend in England when his daughter Coquet landed the Listed Montrose Stakes (1 mile) at Newmarket.

The dual Gr 1 winning Sir Percy ¬†is now the sire of 11 individual two-year-old winners, including the Listed-placed Percy Jackson and the highly-regarded Salford Art, who finished fourth in the recent Group I Fillies’ Mile Stakes at Ascot,and his first juveniles will be presented at Karaka in 2012.

Coquet has now won two of her three starts for trainer Hughie Morrison following her victory at Newmarket.¬†The 1600 metre event has proved a sound guide to future prospects as last year’s winner wassubsequent 1000 Guineas and Irish Oaks winner Blue Bunting while in 2009 it was claimed by Timepiece who went on to land the Gr 1 Falmouth Stakes.

Coquet was purchased for 30,000 guineas by Morrison at Tattersalls October Sale and is a half-sister to Midnight Oil, a dual winner for Luca Cumani this season.

They are out ofthe Nashwan mare One So Marvellous who is a sister to the Gr 1 Juddmonte International winner One So Wonderful.
