A colt from the first-crop of Murtajill (Rock Of Gibraltar) topped the first session of the Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast in Australia on Sunday when he sold to Deagon based trainer Pat Duff for $135,000 to secure the colt from the draft of Glenlogan Park.
He was one of two yearlings to sell for more than $100,000 during a positive opening to the two-day auction.
A regular buyer at most Magic Millions Yearling Sales on the Gold Coast, Duff was delighted to have snared the well regarded youngster as he knows the family well.¬†”I trained his dam Gunalda and she was a quality mare who had good ability but was without luck in a number of good races.” he said.

Murtajill - Gunalda colt
“She ran second to Dantelah in the Sir Douglas Wadley Stakes and wasn’t beaten far when she ran third in the Winter Stakes at Group level.
“Until now I hadn’t really been keen to buy any of her progeny but this colt is an outstanding individual – clearly her best to date.¬†I’ve followed the colt since he was a foal and I was really keen to buy him.”
The other six figure price price was for a colt by Jet Spur from the draft of Highgrove Stud for $110,000. The colt was knocked down to the bid of Hoss Heinrich and the youngster will join the Magic Millions Classic winning stables of his wife Gillian.
$3.4 million was grossed for 152 lots at an average of $22,671 - up over 14% on the same session last year.
