Tha’ir (New Approach – Flashing Green, by Green Desert) continued the wonderful Royal Ascot carnival for Darley stallion New Approach (Galileo – Park Express, by Ahonoora) with his win in Saturday’s Listed Chesham Stakes (7f).
Tha’ir provided the stallion with his third individual Stakes winner from just 10 runners. The Godolphin colt also posted the sire’s third Stakes winner of the Royal Ascot carnival after Dawn Approach (New Approach – Hymn Of The Dawn, by Phone Trick) won the Group 2 Coventry Stakes (6f) on Tuesday while Newfangled (New Approach – Scarlet Ibis, by Machiavellian) blitzed her rivals in the Group 3 Albany Stakes (6f) on Friday.
Tha’ir got back in the field before jockey Frankie Dettori weaved a passage through the field to guide the juvenile to a comprehensive win.
“What a week for New Approach – three winners at Royal Ascot is unbelievable,” Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford told the British Horseracing Authority.
“We came here hoping we’d do well, but we are really pleased with this one.”
