First Stakes winner for Mosayter at Belmont

Tough four-year-old gelding Mr Moet (Mosayter – Marlock Miss, by Karioi Star) became the first Stakes winner for Argyle Thoroughbreds resident Mosayter (Storm Cat – Bashayer, by Mr Prospector) in Saturday’s Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Ascot.

Mosayter formerly performed his stud duties at Fairfields Stud in WA before moving to Argyle Thoroughbreds in 2010.

Mr Moet has developed into one of Perth’s most promising stayers this season and underlined his potential with a gritty win in the Strickland Stakes after looking in trouble on the home turn. Jockey Peter Hall guided his mount through and inside gap to defeat his stablemate Chester Road (Tiger Hill – Contiki Princess, by Woodman).

Mosayter will stand for $4400 at Arygle Thoroughbreds during the 2012 breeding season.

Meanwhile, Balestrini (Danehill – Welsh Love, by Ela-Mana-Mou) filly Rantorini (Balestrini – Supranto, by Laranto) posted her second Stakes win in the Listed Belmont Oaks (2000m).

Rantorini became Balestrini’s first Stakes winner when the filly claimed the Listed Raconteur Stakes (1500m) as a two-year-old before training on at three to claim Saturday’s event.
