Pivotal in line for another Group 1 in Eclipse

Cheveley Park Stud stallion Pivotal (Polar Falcon – Fearless Revival, by Cozzene) will have a chance to earn his second Group 1 win in the space of a week in Eclipse Stakes (1m2f7y) at Sandown in the UK.

Godolphin has entered the Pivotal-sired four-year-old Farrh (Pivotal – Gondarba, by Lando) in the Eclipse Stakes, where he is likely to renew hostilities with his Prince Of Wales’s stakes conqueror So You Think (High Chaparral – Triassic, by Tights).

Pivotal sired the winner of last weekend’s Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes (1-1/4m) at the Curragh when Izzi Top (Pivotal – Zee Zee Top, by Zafonic) prevailed in a small field.

Farrh’s trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said the lightly-raced prospect would appreciate more rain ahead of the Eclipse Stakes but had recovered well from his luckless Royal Ascot effort.

“Farhh came out of his latest run sound and has looked well since Royal Ascot,” Bin Suroor said. “He is taking on some very good horses again but he showed in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes that he is an improving horse and that a mile and a quarter suits him well.

“Softer ground is the key for him and I hope that there is plenty of rain before the weekend.”
