Australian-trained sprinter Atomic Force (Danehill Dancer - Show Of Force, by Luskin Star) will shoot for his third Group 1 win in the past year when he takes on a big field in Saturday’s Telegraph Handicap (1200m) at Trentham in New Zealand.
Atomic Force won the Railway Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day with 58kg but must carry 1kg more if he is to complete New Zealand’s summer sprint double.
The Hombre (Lucky Owners - Atlanta Belle, by Defensive Play) finished a half-length behind Atomic Force when the pair last clashed. The John Bary-trained five-year-old will meet his last-start conqueror 2kg better at the weights on Saturday.

Coolmore sires continued their strong form in Hong Kong after the worldwide breeding operation’s past and present residents produced the winners of half of the 10-race card at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat - Yarn, by Mr Prospector) sired the first winner of the meeting when Honour List (Tale Of The Cat - A Real Dool, Proper Reality) claimed Tak Ku Ling Handicap (1200m). Ultimate Winners made it two from two for Coolmore sires when the four-year-old claimed the Nam Kok Handicap (1000m).
Former Coolmore Stud stallion Hawk Wing (Woodman - La Lorgnette, by Val de l’Orne) sired the winner of the South Wall Handicap (1600m) when Cai Bao In (Hawk Wing - Dazzling Park) posted a 1-3/4 length before Antonius Pius (Danzig - Catchascatchcan, by Pursuit Of Love) gelding All Victory (Antonius Pius - River Princess, by Victory Prince) easily won the Carpenter Handicap (1200m).
Way May Star (Fusaichi Pegasus - Skates) made it four winners for Coolmore-sired gallopers when the three-year-old won the Hau Wong Handicap (1400m).
Coolmore mainstays Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Andonde, by Sharpen Up) and Encosta De Lago (Fairy King - Shoal Creek, by Fairy King) are prominent in the Hong Kong sires’ standings. Danehill Dancer is third on the General Sires’ list while Encosta De Lago sits a place lower.

Newcastle-trained Atomic Force (6 g Danehill Dancer - Show Of Force, by Luskin Star) relished the soft going and proved too good for the New Zealand sprinters in Sunday’s $200,000 Blandford Lodge Railway Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie.
Forced to race off the early pace by Nash Rawiller after a tardy start, Atomic Force looked full of running 400m out and he showed a dazzling turn of foot to sprint to the lead with 100m to go and ease clear of The Hombre (Lucky Owners) and score by half a length under the top-weight of 58kg. Twilight Savings (Secret Savings) finished 1 3/4 lengths away third.
“It was a bit average after the start but all honours to Nash, he didn’t panic. Everything was 110 percent with the horse,” winning trainer Darren Smith told Trackside TV. “It couldn’t have worked out any better and I couldn’t be any prouder of the horse. The heavy track was perfect for him as were the conditions of the race.”
Rawiller praised the effort of Atomic Force who was slowly away. ”It wasn’t the plan but the worst thing you can do is panic. I thought it was best to keep him balanced and he gave plenty in the straight.”
Smith said he would wait before deciding whether Atomic Force would stay on New Zealand for the Gr 1 Telegraph Handicap (1200m) at Trentham later in the month on January 21.

Coolmore Stud enjoyed a successful day at the Breeders’ Cup meeting in the US but also took its form to Hong Kong where its sires produced a winning treble on Saturday at Sha Tin.
Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat - Yarn, by Mr Prospector) started the Sha Tin meeting in good style for Coolmore sires when his son Super Goodies scored a half-length win in the Sun Wui Handicap (1200m).
Coolmore’s champion Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) produced the operation’s second Hong Kong winner on Saturday when the Ricky Yiu-trained Jade Christy (Danehill Dancer - Fandangles, by Centaine).
Jade Christy’s dam Fandangles (Centaine - Eastern Joy, by Three Legs) is from the same family as stakes winners Volksini (Volksraad - Indochine, by Grosvenor), Piachay (Danasinga - Pleasure, by Nassipour) and Utility (Flying Spur - Pleasure, by Nassipour).
Lightly-raced High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells - Kasora, by Darshaan) gelding Hear The Roar (High Chaparral - Talbya, by Mujtahid) completed Coolmore’s Hong Kong treble with his win in the Leighton Handicap (1800m).
“I think he will probably hold his own (in better class),” Hear The Roar’s trainer Sean Woods told the South China Morning Post. “He is only a young horse who had limited racing in England so we’ll look for him to improve a lot this year.”

The relatively unconsidered Rich Unicorn (5 g Danehill Dancer - Onward, by Zeditave), from the same John Size stable who also saddled the red hot favourite Entrapment, surged down the outside under Mark du Plessis to stun most fans to win Sunday’s HKGr2 Premier Bowl over 1200m. Entrapment’s unbeaten record came to an end after his lightly weighted stablemate came at him wide and late.
Size was not as astonished as some by the triumph of Rich Unicorn who was receiving 13lbs from his more illustrious stablemate. “The change in the track condition after the break from racing and reseeding made me think he might enjoy it. I also think he raced on the best ground down the centre of the track.”
“I wasn’t disappointed by Entrapment because he had valid excuses. He got a bit lit up early in the race when it looked as though another runner was going to cross him and Douglas (Whyte) had to move him up to avoid that. But he still ran on very well considering the ground was not as quick on the rail where he was racing.”

Star Coolmore Stud sire High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells - Kashora, by Darshaan) started the last week of October in fine style with a winning double on either side of the Tasman Sea.
Prairie Star (High Chaparral - Maryann Jones, by Fasliyev) provided the New Zealand leg of High Chaparral’s dual success when the mare took out the Vision Forest Lake Handicap (2000m) at Te Rapa.
Colin and Cindy Alderson produced High Chaparral’s Australian winner on Monday when head Honcho (High Chaparral - Dialect, by Lord Waverley) won the Schweppes Handicap (1314m) at Pakenham.
Head Honcho’s win formed part of a treble for Coolmore Stud sires at Pakenham. The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra stable produced Hugomania (Royal Academy - Hugo Girl, by Entrepreneur) to win the Brady’s Carpet Court Maiden Plate (1314m) before Dame Claire (Danehill Dancer - Lovely Actress, by Kaldoun) claimed the Carlton and United Brewers Handicap (2428m).
High Chaparral has produced the winners of 27 races this season.

Coolmore stallions enjoyed a stakes treble around Australia on Saturday. Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) was brilliant in storming home to win the Run To The Rose (Gr 3) at Rosehill, Golden Archer was never in any danger of winning the McNeil Stakes (Gr 3) over 1200m at Caulfield and Atomic Force (Danehill Dancer) was untroubled to come home clear in the Slickpix Sprint (Listed) over 1100m at Caulfield.
“That was amazing really, it was very good, it was extraordinary really,” trainer Anthony Cummings said of Smart Missile’s victory.“When the filly went clear and he was virtually last I thought he was giving a too big a start and it was impossible, an amazing horse.”
“A very short list of horses can do that. He will take a fair bit of improvement from that, he looked nice here today and I was really pleased with the way he presented and he has improvement in him. With that improvement he goes into the Golden Rose and he will be pretty tough to beat I would say.”
“He is quite possibly one of the best horses I have ever thrown a leg over, unbelievable what he has done,” said Glen Boss. “The best three-year-old I ever rode was Fastnet Rock and this bloke is probably a bit better than him as he has more scope.
Golden Archer won his first Group race in the McNeil and trainer Peter Moody was full of praise for the son of Rock Of Gibraltar. “You would love a stable full of him, he is just a professional racehorse. He is just a tremendous horse, he is a bloody good horse too. He has done very little wrong throughout his career.”
Atomic Force (Danehill Dancer) was similarly dominant in winning the Slickpix Sprint, racing in second place to the home turn and then coming away in the straight to score a comfortable win over Testa My Patience (Yesta Rossa) who charged home late when the race was over.
“She (Avenue) really hums along, we sat on her back and they were really going quickly and he really went past her quick so he showed a great turn of foot this horse,” winning jockey Damien Oliver said. “He has got good, genuine speed. He worked well on Tuesday and he switched on even more today on race day.”

A Coolmore double at Kensington has given the stud a slight edge over its main rivals in the early stages of the Sydney metropolitan season.
Coolmore and Darley have started the 2011/12 season locked in a battle for supremacy in Sydney. The Anthony Cummings-trained Kerchings (Tale Of The Cat - Princess Alaana, by Dahar) took out the Coogee Maiden Plate (1800m) before Dawnfire Dancer (Danehill Dancer - Dawnfire, by Integra) claimed the Galaxy Dining Room Handicap (2500m) at Kensington.
Coolmore’s dual success took its Sydney win tally for the season to seven, one more than the Darley operation.
Arrowfield’s four Sydney winners to date means stallions from three studs have won 17 of the 22 metropolitan races contested in NSW this season.
Progeny of Coolmore Stud’s 2011 roster have made a lightning start to the new season with an abundance of success in the opening days of the 2011/12 term.
Coolmore’s incumbent sires from the stud’s bases in Australia, Ireland and the US have combined to produce 30 individual winners in the eight days of August.
The US-based Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector - Angel Fever, by Danzig) provided Coolmore’s latest Australian successes with a double on Monday.
The Luke Oliver-trained Arch Pegasus (Fusaichi Pegasus - Aldarch, by Archway) claimed the Murray Mondays Handicap (2100m) at Swan Hill while La Hdood (Fusaichi Pegasus - Azzurro, by Bluebird) took out the Reynolds Refrigeration Handicap (1250m) at Taree.
Fusaichi Pegasus’s double took his win tally to five for the season. Choisir (Danehill Dancer - Great Selection, by Lunchtime) leads the way for Coolmore with seven winners in the first eight days of 2011/12.
A stakes double on Saturday boosted Choisir’s 2011/12 win tally. Choisir’s sire Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) has sired two winners for the season, both in Queensland.
Coolmore’s champion sire Encosta De Lago (Fairy King - Shoal Creek, by Star Way) produced the stud’s fourth stakes winner of the season when the exciting three-year-old Aeronautical (Encosta De Lago - Moon Fever, by Fusaichi Pegasus) claimed last Saturday’s Listed Rosebud (1200m) at Randwick.
Encosta De Lago has sired four of Coolmore’s 30 winners while the progeny of Fastnet Rock (Danehill - Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) has won three races this season.

Coolmore stallions were on fire in Europe over the weekend with major successes in all countries. Dancing Rain (3 f Danehill Dancer - Rain Flower) powered to classic success in Germany when she defeated Djumama (3 f Aussie Rules) by three lengths in the Henkel-Preis der Diana-Deutsches Stuten-Derby (G1) over 2200m at Dusseldorf.
Dancing Rain won the German Oaks equivalent by making most of the running under Kieren Fallon who said, ”It was easy in the end. Once I was in the lead and going easily, I knew nobody could catch me. She must be one of the top three-year-old fillies over this trip in Europe.”
Closer to home and at the Curragh and La Collina (2 f Strategic Prince - Starfish, by Galileo) proved too good in the Phoenix Stakes (G1) over six furlongs. La Collina came from well back to mow down Power (Oasis Dream) in the final strides with Tough As Nail (Dark Angel) a length and three-quarters away in third. ”She’s a very good two-year-old and that was a true test against the colts.” said winning jockey Colm McDonogh,
Maybe (2 f Galileo - Sumora) was the impressive winner of the Debutante Stakes (G2), defeating Yellow Rosebud (Jeremy) by two and a half lengths in this seven-furlong event for juvenile fillies. Unbeaten in four starts Maybe tracked her packemaking stablemate Chieftess in the early part of the race, before quickening impressively when clear in front.
“We’re delighted with that,” trainer Aidan O’Brien said. “We’ll probably come back here for the Moyglare next. We’ve gone gently since her last race at Leoparsdtown and did it very well. She’s a nice, smart filly.”
Banimpire (3 f Holy Roman Empire - My Renee) added another Group success to her growing CV when she defeated Dunboyne Express (Shamardal) by three-quarters of a length with Mutahadee (Encosta de Lago) in third in the Royal Whip Stakes (G2) over a mile and a quarter.

Winners to Coolmore father and son duo Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) and Choisir (Danehill Dancer - Great Selection, by Lunchtime) helped propel the stud to a sextet of successes on Friday.
Coolmore Stud sires produced at least one winner at all five meetings held in Australia. Choisir and Fastnet Rock (Danehill - Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) combined to produce a double at the Geelong Synthetic fixture.
Le Bonsir (Choisir - La Bella Dame, by Royal Academy) took out the Keane Real Estate Maiden Plate (1100m) before Ramiel (Fastnet Rock - Oh Blue Angel, by Semipalatinsk) claimed the Optus Business Handicap (1200m).
Merwaan (Fusaichi Pegasus - Jump ‘n’ Move, by Catrail) took out the Shoalhaven Services Club Handicap (2200m) at Nowra while To Follow (Danehill Dancer - Hit And Run, Success Express) provided the Ipswich leg of Coolmore’s winning day in the Schweppes Australia Handicap (1200m).
Oracle Of Omaha (Royal Academy - Bellquin, by Bellotto) continued the success for Coolmore with his win in the PCYC Gunnedah Handicap (2050m) at Gunnedah before Positive Dream (Encosta De Lago - Fayfa, by Slip Anchor) completed the stud’s day out with her win over older mares in the Maiden Plate (1000m) at Cowra.
A new stakes winner for top sire High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells - Kasora, by Darshaan) was the highlight of an 11-win Saturday enjoyed by Coolmore Stud stallions.
The Chris Gangemi-trained The Underworld (High Chaparral - Rune, by Star Way) became High Chaparral’s 27th individual stakes winner when the gelding prevailed in the Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) in Perth. The Underworld was a $50,000 purchase at the 2009 NZB Ready To Run Sale.
Gangemi said The Underworld should improve markedly with time, racing and extra distance.
“He’s won well over 1600m today,” Gangemi said. “But he should be even better from 2000m to 2400m. The horse is still learning and his future looks bright.
“He had a setback three weeks ago and seemed below his best for a while, but he was spot on again today.”
Coolmore stalwart Encosta De Lago (Fairy King - Shoal Creek, by Star Way) provided ample support to his younger colleague with a double of his own in Sydney and Brisbane. Mystical Grey (Encosta De Lago - Mysterieux, by Snaadee) took out the Hamilton Hotel Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm before Little Surfer Girl (Encosta De Lago - Special Harmony, by Spinning World) won the Riviana Foodservice Handicap (1350m) at Rosehill.
Footstepsinthesand (Giant’s Causeway - Gatisant, by Rainbow Quest) produced at double at Morphettville and Belmont while Galileo (Sadler’s Wells - Urban Sea, by Miswaki) provided two of Coolmore’s four wins at the Adelaide venue.
Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill - Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) produced a winner in Adelaide while Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector - Angel Fever, by Danzig) was successful at Ararat. Choisir (Danehill Dancer - Great Selection, by Lunchtime) completed Coolmore Stud’s cricket team of winners with a success at Newcastle.

Risky Business (Danehill Dancer) added a second feature Malaysian success to his already-impressive resume when he landed the spoils in the Group 1 RM1 million Piala Emas Sultan Selangor over 2000m at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
The 2010 Singapore Gold Cup winner pulled off a similar feat for trainer Steven Burridge last December when he went on to score in the Group 1 Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup over 2200m at the same track. It was also Risky Business’ second crack at the Piala Emas as he ran third to Top Spin last year.
From this 10th win from 50 starts, Risky Business has added roughly another $200,000 to his stakes earnings to bring his total tally in the region of S$1.6 million.
The victory also sealed Callow’s big-race jockey reputation, and for good measure, the efficient Australian hoop was in sizzling form as he wrapped up the day with a a five-timer. The icing on the cake came with the triumph in the International Jockeys Championship as two of the five wins - Fight To Live and The Bank - counted towards that six-race series which saw jockeys from England, Australia and Macau compete.

Risky Business
The Coolmore Stud machine hit top gear on Saturday with the Hunter Valley operation producing no less than a dozen winners around Australia.
The ever-reliable Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) earned his 126th individual stakes winner when Steps In Time (Danehill Dancer - Rare Insight, by O’Reilly) took out the Listed Daybreak Lover (1400m) at Eagle Farm. First Look (Danehill Dancer - Sly Smile, by Crafty Prospector) completed a double for the stallion with her win in the McWilliam’s Handicap (1300m) at Rosehill.
Another Coolmore stalwart, Encosta De Lago (Fairy King - Shoal Creek, by Star Way) produced stakes winner number 82 of his distinguished career when Mystical Grey roared home to claim the Listed Spear Chief Handicap (1500m) at Eagle Farm.
Royal Academy (Nijinsky - Crimson Saint, by) produced a double at Rosehill. My Vegas (Royal Academy - Smytzer’s Century, by Geiger Counter) won the Omni Handicap (1200m) before Irish Love (Royal Academy - More Natural, by Naturalism) took out the Woodford Reserve Handicap (1800m).
Galileo (Sadler’s Wells - Urban Sea, by Miswaki) enjoyed a treble with winners at the Gold Coast, Newcastle and Sandown Lakeside meetings while Fastnet Rock (Danehill - Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) produced a double at the Morphettville and Kilmore fixtures. Winners for Dehere (Deputy Minister - Sister Dot, by Secretariat) and Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector - Angel Fever, by Danzig) completed Coolmore’s terrific day.

Atomic Force proved too good for his rivals in yesterday’s $350,000 The Galaxy (Gr 1), coming clear into the straight to go on and defeat Thankgoduou’rehere (Secret Savings) with Cardinal Virtue (Elusive Quality) close up in third.
The five-year-old became the 13th Group 1 winner for Danehill Dancer (Ire) and was the first Group One winner for trainer Darren Smith.
“When it started to rain I couldn’t believe it, the horse is going terrific and all the staff in Newcastle put so much effort into this horse; it was my first group one and it is good.” Smith said later.
“He [Atomic Force] has a nice paddock at home on the farm in Williamtown and we just keep him poking along and keep him happy.
“I have known Dean Watt for 20 years and this horse came up to me after several other trainers had had him, I think at one point he got beaten in a BM65 at Wyong.
“We have had a few nice horses but we have never quite been able to get (a group one) so it is great that this happened.”
“It is unbelievable, I have seen the horse perform well in these types of conditions so I was confident going into the race with no weight on his back and as far out as the 600m he had the race won, he was jogging; it is a little bit surreal, first winning the Doncaster then getting a Group one double,” Clark said.
“It is a huge thrill, a huge buzz and it is going to do my career the world of good, obviously Dean (Watt) has been a big supporter of mine and it great to get a big win for him.”
Atomic Force (5 g Danehill Dancer – Show Of Force, by Luskin Star) has now won eight of his 27 starts and earned $565,350.

The Arqana Sale, the first yearling sale on the European circuit gets under way today, Friday 14th August, at Deauville and concludes on Monday 17th has introduced online bidding and personalised mini-catalogues for interested parties attending the sale.
Arqana have continually pointed to the deeds of its graduates this year. The outstanding winners, Le Havre was sold for €100,000 and won the French Derby (the Prix du Jockey Club). While Silver Frost, a €95,000 purchase, took the Group I Poule d’Essai des Poulains, and Collection, who sold for €130,000, ran away with the Hong Kong Derby.
The sale also features yearlings by Australia’s leading stallion Encosta de Lago and his runner-up Redoute’s Choice with yearlings on offer by them in the French sales ring.
Redoute’s Choice will be represented by Lot 208, a bay colt out of a Kingmambo half-sister to USA Grade 1 winner Point Ashley and Grade 2 winner Raw Gold.
While, Encosta de Lago will be represented by three lots - two fillies and a colt. Lot 164 is a chestnut filly with tremendous residual value, being a half-sister to Group 1 winner Atticus and her dam is a Group 2 winning daughter of Secretariat. While his lone colt, lot 160, a bay is out of a half- sister to Sligo Bay (Group 1) from the family of Singspiel and Rahy so he will have stallion potential later on. The other filly, a bay, is a half-sister to Heckie a Group 3 winner and from a mare by Unfuwain, will go under the hammer early in the sale as lot 42.
Other stallions represented in the catalogue that stand down-under are Red Ransom (six lots), Exceed And Excel (two fillies), Danehill Dancer (11), Cape Cross (four), Galileo (20), Montjeu (16), More Than Ready (a lone colt) and Anabaa (five).
In a bid to keep upgrading its service to buyers, vendors and interested parties alike, Arqana have launched a personalised mini-catalogue. This groundbreaking catalogue will save buyers precious time. By allowing visitors to select their favorite lots, in pdf format, and organising pedigrees in optimal viewing order thus savinig time (and distance!).
In line with William Inglis and Magic Millions, buyers who can not attend the sale, can also bid on-line via the Arqana website. As in Australia, this service won’t replace the advice of a professional attending the sale, but it does act as a supplementary tool.
Anyone who wishes to bid online does need to apply and they need to fill in the online registration form, which will enable him/her to receive his/her personal login and password as well as to request a license to bid online from ARQANA.
