HAUNUI FARM RELEASE – Haunui Farm have announced that AJC Derby winner Don Eduardo (NZ) (Zabeel) will retire from stud duties in New Zealand and return to his owner, Mr Eduardo Cojuangco’s Gooree Park Stud in Mudgee, New South Wales.
Still New Zealand’s highest priced yearling at $3.6 million, Don Eduardo retired to stud in 2003and stood his first two seasons at Fayette Park Stud before relocating to Haunui Farm in 2005.
Among his 16 stakes performers are the dual Group One winner Booming, Sydney Cup runners-up Divine Rebel and Older Than Time and Group three winner and Group One performer Swift Alliance.
A member of the mighty Eight Carat family by Champion Sire Zabeel, Don Eduardo’s impact has already been felt as a broodmare sire, his daughter Tarlaquena the dam of Group One performer Kabayan (Aus) (Haradasun).
Mark Chitty says, “after discussions with Andrew Baddock who manages Gooree Park Stud, it was decided to retire Don Eduardo and Mr Cojuangco is more than happy for him to return to Gooree Park Stud.
“Don Eduardo left some very good horses and proved his versatility leaving Group One performing sprinters and stayers. We are pleased to have been part of the Don Eduardo story and I’m sure we will see his impact continue for some time through his daughters.”
