Locally-trained Miss Imagica (4 m Hidden Dragon – Imagica, by Shedad) fulfilled a lifelong dream for trainer Michael Nolan when she won Thursday’s Listed $150,000 Weetwood Handicap (1200m) on the Toowoomba cushion track.
Miss Imagica was posted out three deep from the start but cornered full of running, going clear early in the straight to go on and score by two and a quarter lengths over Cariad (Sequalo) with the fast finishing Reilly Blue (Sequalo) getting up for third place in front of the $2 favourite The Ringmaster.
“I’ve been training for 21 years and I’ve always wanted to win this race,” Nolan said.¬†”This is as good as it gets for me. I’ve trained a Group One winner with Laurie’s Lottery in the Doomben 10,000 but this is different, this means the world to me to win this race.”

Miss Imagica has won seven races on the Toomoomba track and the Weetwood is her biggest victory to date and her first black-type win.
Her sire Hidden Dragon (Danehill) won the Gr 3 Chinese Challenge Cup (1400m) in Hong Kong and stands at Lyndhurst Stud in Queensland.
