A Coolmore Stud stallion produced the top lot for the second day running at the 2012 Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock sale in Sydney.
Fastnet Rock (Danehill – Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) weanlings were the hot item on Wednesday’s opening day but Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat – Yarn, by Mr Prospector) took the honours when a colt out of the dual Sydney winner Summer Angel (Desert Sun – Angel Baby, by Red Anchor) fetched $42,000.
A Onemorenomore (Red Ransom – Palia, by Last Tycoon) colt out of the Canny Lad (Bletchingly – Jesmond Lass, by Lunchtime) mare Goldess (Canny Lad – Princess Marigold, by Yeats) attracted a $40,000 investment from New Zealand-based bloodstock agent Michael Wallace.
Goldess is a half-sister to the Stakes-winning sprinter Marwin Gold (Marwina – Princess Marigold, by Yeats) and a sister to the 2010 Group 1 Australasian Oaks winner Small Minds (Canny Lad – Princess Marigold, by Yeats).
A Street Sense (Street Cry – Bedazzle, by Dixieland Band) half-brother to the Mick Price-trained Group 2 winner Nakaaya (Tiger Hill – Duchess Talaria, by Marwina) sold for $38,000 to Queensland breeder Royston Stud.
Inglis auctioneers sold 99 weanlings at a 90 percent clearance rate, which helped the aggregate for the past two days to more than $4.5 million.
“Thanks to the support of vendors we were able to offer 11 percent more weanlings this year than in 2012, and buyers flocked to the sale with the aggregate up percent,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.
“The top nine weanlings today were all sold to interstate or overseas clients, a great indication of the spread of buying bench assembled here in Sydney.”
