Second for Shaft

Detonate (2 g Chapatti, by Grand Lodge) became the first Australian winner from the first-crop of Silver Slipper Stakes winner Shaft (Flying Spur – Traceable, by Rahy) when making a winning debut to land the $10,000 Vinery Stud Plate (800m) at Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

Trained by Mark Lynch and bred by Mr G P Ingham, Detonate ¬†joins Deakes who recently became Shaft’s first winner in New Zealand.

Detonate defeated Biscay Sport (Commands) by a short-head with Royal Regard (Royal Academy) a length and a half away third.

Detonate is inbred to Danzig and is one of two foals by Shaft out of mares by Grand Lodge (USA). Shaft currently has two winners and two placed horses from seven runners in his first-crop.

Shaft, who stands at Darley Kelvinside in NSW at a fee of $7,700 (incl GST) has two yearlings entered in the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling sales on the Gold Coast with lots 663 and 847.
