Tiger Hill 4YO stuns So You Think

Godolphin’s Rewilding (Tiger Hill – Darara, by Top Ville) has halted the winning run of double Cox Plate winner So You Think (High Chaparral – Triassic, by Tights) in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (1m 2f) at Royal Ascot.

So You Think had won his two races in the care of new trainer Aidan O’Brien in emphatic fashion and looked to be heading for a third straight win when jockey Ryan Moore asked the stallion to make his charge for the line with 450 metres to run.

So You Think was unable to hold off Rewilding, despite Moore’s desperate urgings. Rewilding’s jockey Frankie Dettori punched the air with glee as his mount beat So You Think by a neck.

The win was Rewilding’s fifth from nine starts and the fourth from seven appearances since joining Godolphin after the famous racing team bought the horse from his original French owners.

“He has always been a really smart colt,” Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said.

“He won the (Group 1) Sheema Classic like a top horse and he has nailed a really top colt here (So You Think) as well.

“The whole race panned out really well for us. The pace was genuine, it was strong, and it really played into our hands.”

Darley shuttled Tiger Hill (Danehill – The Filly, by Appiani) to Australia for four seasons between 2005 and 2008. The stallion returned to Germany to continue his career in 2011.

Tiger Hill won three German Group 1 races in 1998 and 1999.
