Champion galloper So You Think’s (High Chaparral - Triassic, by Tights) younger half-brother posted his maiden city win in Wednesday’s Premier Signs Handicap (1400m) at Sandown.
So You Think won a Group 1 Cox Plate and two other Stakes races within the first seven starts of his illustrious career but the Danny O’Brien-trained Now You Know (Elusive City - Triassic, by Tights) took seven starts to record his first city win.
Now You Know led all the way to score narrowly but O’Brien said the lightly-raced three-year-old was looking for further than the 1400 metres of the Sandown race.
“He is always going to live in the shadow of So You Think but he’s a nice horse in his own right,” O’Brien said. “He’s been a lot slower to develop but he’s been on a good path.
“He has been really composed here today and he settled for Craig. He was right on speed but he settled really well in the run.
“He lengthened really well and he was strong to the post.”
O’Brien paid $NZ260,000 for Now You Know at the 2010 NZB Premier Yearling Sale. So You Think fetched less than half that amount when he was auctioned at the same sale in 2008.
Now You Know was the second O’Brien-trained city winner by the Haunui Farm-based stallion. O’Brien has prepared Admantium (Elusive City - Della Mimosa, by Generous) to win two races at Caulfield this season.

The 2012 Select Sale traded strongly across the past three days, the results have held up strongly to end up just ahead of last year’s Sale. A total of 415 horses have sold for $19,114,500 (up from $19,107,000 for 418 sold in 2011) at an average of $46,059 (up from $45,711 in 2011) and a clearance of 74% (up from 73% in 2011).
New Zealand Bloodstock Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela is pleased with how figures have held up against last year. ”After a particularly strong session yesterday (Thursday) we were prepared for today to be a quieter day but to have exceeded last year’s aggregate and average while maintaining a stronger clearance rate is a great result. Selling felt solid right throughout the three days with a good number of international buyers staying on to compete with the locals.
“Overall I think we can be very satisfied with how the week has gone given the current climate. I hope we can carry some of that momentum into our final day on Sunday.”
The leading buyer for the Select Sale is John Chalmers Bloodstock from Western Australia with eight purchases for $570,500, including his sole purchase today of Lot 1034, the Falkirk colt bought for $35,000. Chalmers also purchased 13 yearlings from the Premier Sale earlier in the week to bring his tally to 21 yearlings for $2,930,500 at an average of $139,584 including a top price of $400,000 paid for the High Chaparral colt at Lot 69.
Just behind him on the buyers list was New Zealand trainer Trent Busuttin who is enjoying a surge in support following his successful season with Group 1 VRC Derby winner Sangster. He purchased a total of 11 yearlings at this session for $550,000 at an average of $50,000, including a top price of $115,000 paid for the colt by Thorn Park at Lot 543.
Rich Hill Stud’s freshman sire, Sir Percy (Mark of Esteem), is the leading first season sire of the Select Sale with eight entries sold for an average of $49,625. At $120,000 today’s Lot 963 was the top price of the Sale for the Group 1 English Derby winner. Queensland agent John Foote paid the top price of the week for Sir Percy’s progeny when Lot 458 of the Premier Sale was knocked down to him for $150,000.
Heading the vendor tables by average for the Select Sale has been Mark & Shelley Treweek’s Lyndhurst Farm who sold yesterday’s $200,000 Dubawi colt at Lot 912. In total the stud has sold nine entries for an average of $79,056.
With 25 horses sold, including the top lot, Haunui Farm is the leading vendor by aggregate at this session with turnover of $1,477,000 at an average of $59,080.

A filly by Pentire (GB) topped the opening session of the NZB three-day Select Sale today at Karaka, when offered as the second to last lot of the day.
Offered by Mark & Denny Baker’s Hallmark Stud, the filly from Redoute’s Choice mare Eyes Light Up at Lot 724 was secured by John White Bloodstock. “She was just a real smart filly, purchased for Bevan Laming in Queensland. ”He’ll think about it over the next few days whether he sends them to his Brisbane or Melbourne stable.”

Two lots sold for $160,000 earlier in the day. The first came at Lot 576, when the colt by freshman sire Any Suggestion (Lion Hunter) was knocked down to the bid of Western Australia trainer Wally Mitchell. With Any Suggestion claiming Sunday night’s Karaka Million winner, Ockham’s Razor, Mitchell identified this colt as an ideal prospect for next year’s $1 million incentive race.
“We bought him mainly for the Karaka Million and we will be aiming for that. He will stay with Murray Baker in preparation for the big race. We nearly made the field this year with Testimonial Mac and we are keen to have another go at it. He had a strength that drew me to him, I owned Placid Ark who was Horse of the Year and he reminded me a lot of him with a similar build through the shoulder.”
“We were also the under-bidder on the three-quarter brother to So You Think and we were disappointed to not get him as we got to $775,000. We ended up purchasing Lot 69 by High Chaparral, the three-quarter brother to Monaco Consul (Lot 69), and overall we are very happy with what we’ve got at Karaka.”
Later in the Sale Lot 665 shared the top spot when knocked down to South African agent Andy Williams’ Worldwide Bloodstock. The colt by Towkay, offered by Little Avondale Stud, is from the Dance Floor mare Dancing Daze.

Te Akau Racing David Ellis sparked the NZB Premier Sale into life on Tuesday afternoon when outlasting Coolmore for a colt by Fastnet Rock out of Nureyev’s Girl (USA) at $NZ1.75 million to top the sale.
Vendor Sir Patrick Hogan predicted the Cambridge Stud-consigned colt to be the star of the show before selling started at Karaka this week and that’s how it played out with a heated bidding duel between underbidders Coolmore Stud and Ellis of Te Akau Stud.
The sixth seven-figure yearling ever bought by Ellis at Karaka, he admits he paid more than he expected he would. ”I did expect a high price for this colt, and I thought I would get him for about $1.5 million, but the others went beyond that. Demi O’Byrne is a world renowned judge of yearlings and he said this colt is the best he has seen at a sale in the last 10 years,”
“I wanted to secure him for the New Zealand racing and breeding industry, it is essential that we retain horses like this in New Zealand. He is an outstanding individual and the fact that he’s by such a great sire out of a Nureyev mare gives him the potential to win Group 1 races.

David Ellis with the Fastnet Rock - Nureyev's Girl colt
“He is already 90% sold with the remaining 10% to be sold this week and I don’t anticipate that will be very difficult to do. He will be trained by Jason Bridgman with a racing campaign intended to maximise his stud potential. If he’s as good as his sister we will be very happy.”
Earlier in the day Hong Kong-based agent Willy Leung outbid Wally Mitchell from Perth to sign at $800,000 for the three-quarter-brother to So You Think when buying the Windsor park Stud consigned colt by High Chaparral out of La Souvenir (Nuclear Freeze).
“We came here wanting to but a Derby type of horse and I was lucky to have two clients that wanted buy quality horses of this type.” Like his $650,000 High Chaparral purchase on the first day of the sale, Leung said the La Souvenir colt will remain in New Zealand to be broken and possibly race before a decision is made on his future.

Despite a much stronger day’s trade on Tuesday, the two-day Premier Sale still finished some way down on 2011 levels. 350 yearlings have sold for $54,137,000 ($65,574,000 in 2011) at an average of $154,677 ($174,864 in 2011) and clearance of 74%. The median for the two-day session was $120,000.
David Ellis was the leading buyer with 27 yearlings bought for $6,262,500 at an average of $231,944. The leading New Zealand buyer at Karaka for the last seven years, Ellis increased his spend significantly on last year where he bought 25 Premier Sale yearlings for $4,433,500.
“I think it has been a very successful Sale with terrific competition on the real athletes. We found it difficult to buy the good horses and think it has been a very successful two days,” commented Ellis.
“To achieve that in a recession reflects very highly on the New Zealand industry. New Zealand Bloodstock, in my opinion, can take great heart that even in very difficult economic times horses have still sold well to a huge international buying bench.”
Fastnet Rock topped the sires table for the 2012 NZB Premier Sale with eight sold for an average of $422,500. The leading New Zealand-based sire was Zabeel with 21 sold for an average of $233,810 and a top price of $600,000 paid by Ger Beemsterboer of The Netherlands for the filly from La Quinta Gold at Lot 281. Beemsterboer has already enjoyed success in New Zealand with his Group 1 winning Fastnet Rock filly Planet Rock.
With a host of sires making their yearling sale debut this season, the leading first season sire is Widden Stud’s Golden Slipper winner Sebring, with six yearlings sold at an average of $155,000.
For the 31st year in a row Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud was the leading vendor by aggregate at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale with 43 yearlings sold for $10,820,000 at an average of $251, 628.
Mark and Shelley Treweek’s Lyndhurst Farm, with 12 entries in the Premier Sale, was the leading vendor by average with nine sold for $2,385,000 at an average of $265,000. That included a top price of $650,000 paid yesterday by Willy Leung for the High Chaparral colt at Lot 130.
New Zealand Bloodstock Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela said there were some heartening results from the day. ”We were very pleased to see the market strengthen from yesterday, with a number of the better pedigreed horses coming through the ring today. We have been thrilled with the buyer turnout at Karaka and there was plenty of good competition on the appealing lots.
“It’s disappointing not to have been able to get the clearance rate up a bit higher but hopefully over the course of the next couple of days there’ll be more sales completed from this session.”

High Chaparral (Ire) had his offspring sell well on Day 1 of the NZB Premier Sale with three of the top five lots sold, headed by a colt and filly fetching $650,000 apiece.
The first came at Lot 130, when the Lyndhurst Park colt from Creil (Frenchpark) was knocked down to the bid of Hong Kong agent Willie Leung acting for Hong Kong owner Mr WK Lee.
“We thought he was the best High Chaparral in the Sale and we were very keen to get him. Mr Lee wants a tough stayer and has been looking for a long time for a horse like this,” Leung said.”We paid a premium to get him but in order to get such a quality horse that is sometimes necessary.
“The horse will remain in New Zealand for at least 18 months for training and we will race him here in New Zealand before deciding whether he is good enough to send to Hong Kong.”
Less than an hour later the filly from the five-time winning Danehill mare Diamond Like was secured privately by Gai Waterhouse & James Harron Bloodstock shortly after the filly was passed through the ring.
A half-sister to the $2 million 2010 Karaka sale-topper, the filly was offered by Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud.
High Chaparral is the most represented of any sire at the 2012 Premier Sale, with 35 yearlings entered from his last New Zealand conceived crop. So far today 25 have sold for an average of $200,800.

Darley sires produced a running double at Wednesday’s Kembla Grange meeting, which included an impressive debut win for the Chris Waller-trained Catkins (Dubawi - Salix Caprea, by Catbird).
Catkins led all the way to claim the Universal Prince Maiden Plate (1000m). Jockey Glyn Schofield had little trouble earning his winning percentage as the Dubawi (Dubai Millennium - Zomaradah, by Deploy) filly strolled to a 2-3/4-length success.
Waller paid $80,000 on behalf of Ingham Racing to secure the filly Schofield was confident Catkins had the scope to repay her connections’ investment.
“Her trials were faultless and her race today was pretty similar as well,” Schofield said. “She’s not the finished article yet, she’s got a lot to learn mentally.
“It was a very soft win and she did it all right today. I can’t fault any part of her race or preparation at the moment.
“I think they’ve got a very smart filly.”
Street Cry (Machiavellian - Helen Street, by Troy) gelding Benvenue (Street Cry - Touch And Glow, by Vain) completed Darley’s Kembla Grange double with his upset win in the Warilla Bowls Club Maiden Plate (1600m).
Starting at $31, the Jason Coyle-trained five-year-old held off the luckless Saint Chaparral (High Chaparral - Saint Cecile, by Pompeii Court) to score by a neck.

Single Minded (4 g Bachelor Duke - Capacity, by Zabeel) produced a staying performance of pure heart to win Sunday’s $100,000 Gr 2 Waiwera City Of Auckland Cup (2400m) at Ellerslie.
Single Minded capped an amazing rise through the staying grades with the victory on just his ninth career start, the Bachelor Duke 4yo relentlessly galloped up the Ellerslie straight and held all challengers at bay for a win that left no beaten runners with any excuses.
At the finish Single Minded had 1 1/4 lengths over Marea Altea (Montjeu) with the winners stablemate Top Spot (High Chaparral) a neck way in third, both placegetters running on from well back into the straight.
Richardson had elected to run Single Minded in the Cup rather than the Dunstan Feeds Final (2200m) earlier on the programme that he won with Green Supreme, a gelded son of Gr 1 sprinter Oasis Dream (Green Desert).
Of Single Minded, Richardson said, ”He’s a tough horse. He’s pretty handy and I think he’ll go right through the grades. He’s one horse who can go through the pain barrier. The other day he knuckled over at the start and was gone at the 600 but he dug in and still won.”
By the Irish 2000 Guineas winner Bachelor Duke (Miswaki), who shuttles to The Oaks Stud, the result was rewarding for stud principal Dick Karreman. Earlier in the day The Oaks Stud-bred pair of Platinum Princess and Smoulder had fought out the finish of the Gr 2 Rich Hill Mile

Zephyron (3 Zabeel - Diamond Like, by Danehill) was the most expensive yearling sold in Australia or New Zealand in 2010 when fetching $2 million and he repaid $6,825 of that when winning his Maiden at Cranbourne on Friday.
Judging by the manner of victory Zephyron will be earning more for his connections as well. Allowed to settle off the speed by Michael Rodd, Zephyron was pulled out wide in the straight and he powered home over the top of older horses to win the $12,000 SRS Motors Cranbourne Maiden (1300m) by 1 1/4 lengths at his first start this preparation.
Trained at Flemington by Mark Kavanagh for John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds, Zephyron showed promise in two runs earlier this year in Melbourne and he certainly looks better suited over further distance.
Bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan at their Cambridge Stud, Zephyron has a half-sister by High Chaparral being offered by Cambridge at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale in January, the fourth living foal of Diamond Like, stakes winner of the Lightning Hcp at Trentham and a sister to Gr 1 winner Viking Ruler and Gr 2 winner Kempinsky.

The 234th running of the Investec Derby, at Epsom Downs on Saturday, June 1, 2013, has received an entry of 442. Run over a mile and a half, the world’s most famous Classic will have a prize fund of at least £1,250,000.
Many of the world’s major owners are well-represented at the initial yearling entry stage. Sheikh Mohammed currently has the highest number of entries of any single owner, with a total of 43 hopefuls at this early stage. Among Sheikh Mohammed’s contingent is Superfection, a half-brother to 2010 Kentucky Derby hero and shuttle-sire Super Saver, who at $1.2 million topped this year’s sale at Saratoga. Other significant purchases by Sheikh Mohammed in 2011 who hold a 2013 Derby entry include a New Approach colt out of Lady Miletrian, who made 500,000 guineas at Tattersalls and a colt by the same stallion out of Ladeena, who cost 450,000 guineas at the same venue.
Sheikh Mohammed is also the founder and driving force behind Godolphin, and there are 33 initial entries under the Godolphin banner.
Pour Moi landed the 2011 Investec Derby for owners Sue Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith and the same owners are responsible for a total of 78 entries between them. Featuring among the Coolmore contingent is the dearest colt sold in Europe in 2011, by Oasis Dream out of Kassiopeia, who cost 700,000 guineas at Tattersalls.
Other purchases by the Coolmore team (also successful in the Investec Derby with Galileo in 2001 and High Chaparral in 2002) in 2011 included a 520,000 guineas son of Montjeu out of Queen Mary Stakes winner Dance Parade.
The victory of Pour Moi in 2011 was the first for a French-trained runner in 35 years and there are currently 48 entries hailing from the other side of the Channel. These include the most expensive colt sold in France this year, by Galileo out of US Grade One heroine Royal Highness, who went for €500,000 at Deauville and is now in training with Alain de Royer Dupre for Australian owners Paul Fudge’s Waratah Thoroughbreds.
The most successful current owner in the Derby is the Aga Khan, who has enjoyed four victories courtesy of Shergar (1981), Shahrastani (1986), Kahyasi (1988) and Sinndar (2000). He has 28 entries for 2013 spread between Alain de Royer Dupre, Mikel Delzangles and Jean-Claude Rouget in France, plus John Oxx in Ireland.

Top-class New Zealander Mufhasa (Pentire - Sheila Cheval, by Mi Preferido) will shoot for his eighth win at the highest level in Saturday’s Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes (1600m) at Trentham.
Mufhasa broke through for his first Australian Group 1 win two starts back in the Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield in early October before a foot issue prevented the 16-time winner from taking his place in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) in November.
Mufhasa resumed from the slight setback with a brave second to Lady Chaparral (High Chaparral - Images by Gleam Machine) in the Group 3 Tauranga Stakes (1600m). Mufhasa’s trainer Steven McKee said the seven-year-old’s feet issues have settled as the gelding has aged.
“I was happy with him before Tauranga, the foot was no concern, and he’s looking good,” McKee said. “I’ve got no excuses for him and he’s going well.”
“He’s always had little niggles with mainly his front feet over the years, but they’ve all grown out and are more symmetrical and in proportion this year, so he’s been pain free, sounder, and he’s racing accordingly.”
Mufhasa will face nine rivals in the $NZ200,000 event. The Captain Cook Stakes field is below.

Dual Group 1 winner Shoot Out (High Chaparral – Pentamerous) is switching stables, now to be trained by Chris Waller in Sydney after connections decided that a change of environment would benefit the five-year-old. Winner of the AJC Derby in 2010, Shoot Out has been trained at the Gold Coast by John Wallace.
“This horse has reached the greatest heights in racing and it will be arduous task to continue on with the platform that was set by Mr Wallace. I congratulate both him and his staff for the job they have done with this horse up until now.” Waller said in a statement.
“For any trainer it is difficult to lose such a horse and to my understanding there has certainly been no falling out between the owners and trainer with the owners speaking very highly of Mr Wallace.”
“The owners have indicated that the horse may benefit from a change of environment after struggling to recapture his best form in the past twelve months.”
“With the upcoming Sydney Carnival approaching and the likelihood of him returning to racing sometime throughout this period, it seemed logical to make Sydney his new base.” he said.
Shoot Out last raced when runner-up to Glass Harmonium (Ire) in the Eagle Farm Cup (Gr 2) on June 4.

Coolmore Stud sires took the honours again on Thursday after the worldwide breeding giant’s stallion combined for six successes in Australia and New Zealand.
Encosta De Lago (Fairy King - Shoal Creek, by Star Way) and High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells - Kasora, by Darshaan) teamed up to provide a double at the Te Aroha meeting. Hype (High Chaparral - Zolata, by Zabeel) won the Nottingham Castle Hotel Maiden (2200m) before Encosta Larrocha (Encosta De Lago - Larrocha, by Danehill) took out the Waihou Excavation Handicap (2200m).
Choisir (Danehill Dancer - Great Selection, by Lunchtime) sired a double of his own at the Seymour and Port Lincoln fixtures. Sweet Music (Choisir - Blue Music, by Bluebird) got home to win the Railway Club Hotel Maiden Plate (1009m) before Like Bolt (Choisir - Tierani, by Tierce) claimed the Carlton Draught Handicap (1000m).
Galileo (Sadler’s Wells - Urban Sea, by Miswaki) got in on the act at Port Lincoln when He’s Hot To Trot (Galileo - Zinnia, by Zabeel) won the Boston Bakery Handicap (1750m).
Coolmore’s champion Royal Academy (Nijinsky II - Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) closed out the operation’s impressive day when Stream Royale (Royal Academy - Sorell Creek, by King Of Kings) took out the VB Gold Maiden Plate (1109m).

Outstanding UK galloper Workforce (King’s Best - Soviet Moon, by Sadler’s Wells) will begin his stud career in Japan after Teruya Yoshida’s Shadai Stud the Group 1 English Derby and Group 1 Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe winner.
Workforce won four of his nine starts carrying the colours of Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms operation. The stallion will join his former Sir Michael Stoute stablemate Harbinger (Dansili - Penang Pearl, by Bering) in Japan.
Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe paid tribute to Workforce, who ended his career with a well-beaten 12th to Danedream in this year’s Arc after failing to recapture his stunning three-year-old form.
“He was an exceptional three-year-old and was one of only six horses to have completed the Derby and Arc double since the war,” Grimthorpe said.
“He has a wonderful temperament and winning the Derby in record time was an extraordinary achievement.”
Workforce managed to win the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes before finishing a game second to Australasian star So You Think (High Chaparral - Triassic, by Tights) in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes.

So You Think (High Chaparral - Triassic, by Tights) failed to run a place in the Gr 1 $5m Breeders Cup Classic over 2000m at Churchill Downs on Sunday.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained multiple Gr 1 winnern hope enjoyed a good run through the race, sitting just off the pace, in total contrast to his previous outing in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, tracking Game On Dude and turning for home looking for gaps to launch a challenge on the leaders.
On straightening however he was unable to go with Game On Dude who kicked away with what looked a winning break in the quest for his rider, Chantal Sutherland to be the first woman ever to win the race. Drosselmeyer (Distorted Humor - Golden Ballet), ridden by Mike Smith, came from nowhere with a strong run from second last to score by one and half length win over Game On Dude (Awesome Again) with Ruler On Ice (Roman Ruler) third.
“He has run a very creditable race but just got a bit tired, he ran out of petrol at the end.” said So You Think’s jockey Ryan Moore. ”He looked good but this was his first time on dirt and he ran a very brave race.”

Coolmore Stud enjoyed a successful day at the Breeders’ Cup meeting in the US but also took its form to Hong Kong where its sires produced a winning treble on Saturday at Sha Tin.
Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat - Yarn, by Mr Prospector) started the Sha Tin meeting in good style for Coolmore sires when his son Super Goodies scored a half-length win in the Sun Wui Handicap (1200m).
Coolmore’s champion Danehill Dancer (Danehill - Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) produced the operation’s second Hong Kong winner on Saturday when the Ricky Yiu-trained Jade Christy (Danehill Dancer - Fandangles, by Centaine).
Jade Christy’s dam Fandangles (Centaine - Eastern Joy, by Three Legs) is from the same family as stakes winners Volksini (Volksraad - Indochine, by Grosvenor), Piachay (Danasinga - Pleasure, by Nassipour) and Utility (Flying Spur - Pleasure, by Nassipour).
Lightly-raced High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells - Kasora, by Darshaan) gelding Hear The Roar (High Chaparral - Talbya, by Mujtahid) completed Coolmore’s Hong Kong treble with his win in the Leighton Handicap (1800m).
“I think he will probably hold his own (in better class),” Hear The Roar’s trainer Sean Woods told the South China Morning Post. “He is only a young horse who had limited racing in England so we’ll look for him to improve a lot this year.”

Trainer Aidan O’Brien believes So You Think will have no problem with racing on dirt in the Breeders’ Cup. The son of High Chaparral, who finished second in the Gr 1 Qipco Champion Stakes at his most recent outing, is to start in the BC Classic at Churchill Downs a week on Saturday.
O’Brien, who has saddled Giant’s Causeway and Henrythenavigator to finish second in the Classic, told the Racing Post, “You can’t ever be sure. Obviously he is a big, strong powerful horse, he has tactical speed early in his races and he’s a great traveller.”
“I suppose that ability to travel and to stay is probably more important. He is a battle-hardened horse, a great horse and he’s done great this season. He has a great constitution and we’re looking forward to seeing him run.”

Tanby (5 g Galileo - Dane Belltar, by Danewin) led home a Lloyd Williams owned, Robert Hickmott trained quinella when defeating stablemate At First Sight (Galileo) by one and three-quarter lengths in Wednesday’s $200,000 Jayco Bendigo Cup (Listed) over 2400m.
Steven King gave Tanby the ride of his life and the improving five-year-old dashed clear early in the straight. At First Sight closed gamely under his 58kg top-weight but Tanby proved too good. Western Symbol (High Chaparral) set a strong pace and than stayed on well for third.
Williams has already won the Bendigo Cup twice and part-owner Nick enjoyed the third. “It was fantastic to come here and it is a great day to have our horses’ quinella it. There are not many things that mean more to us as the Bendigo Jockey Club has a very fond place in our hearts. So to quinella their big day is just fantastic.”
Tanby is still in the Melbourne Cup but is outside the weight limit. “All I can say to Greg Carpenter is that he is clearly the most impressive Bendigo Cup winner I have ever seen, I hope he is listening to that and gives him 3kg. I am sure he will cut me back so hopefully he will give us 2kg.” Williams said.
“At First Sight was game and as I said before the race, weight stops trains and with 58kg and that small setback, he just knocked up in the last 100, but he ran well and it was a great Cup trial.”
Tanby sold for $200,000 at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling sale and now boasts seven wins from 15 starts and has bankrolled $343,455
