Champion Sire of Two-Year-Olds, More Than Ready is firmly established as Australia’s outstanding cross for mares descending from Danzig, and particularly Danehill and his sons. His Champion Two-Year-Old, Sebring, is out of a mare by Flying Spur and his Group One winners Benicio and Perfectly Ready are out of mares by Danehill himself. From this line he also has stakes winners out of mares by Danzig, Pine Bluff, Langfuhr and Polish Numbers. More Than Ready’s second successive Magic Millions winner, Phelan Ready, is from another branch of the Northern Dancer line, that of Sadler’s Wells (out of a mare by Blevic, a son of Scenic). Other branches of Northern Dancer that have done well for More Than Ready include El Gran Senor and his brother Try My Best (through Last Tycoon) and Storm Cat. More Than Ready has already nine stakes winners out of Mr. Prospector line mares. This includes the Group One winning Carry On Cutie (dam by Conquistarose, a son of Conquistador Cielo). Other branches of the Mr. Prospector line to provide stakes winners from More Than Ready include Gulch (sire of Thunder Gulch), Gone West (Elusive Quality, Zafonic, Xaar and Mr. Greeley), Fappiano, and Crafty Prospector. More Than Ready has sired stakes winners out of mares from
several different branches of the Nasrullah line. He has two stakes winners
from the Naskra line. From the Bold Ruler line he has stakes winners out of
mares descending from Seattle Slew and Raja Baba. From the Blushing Groom
line, he has a stakes winner out of a mare by Blushing John. Other broodmare
sire lines to produce the dams of More Than Ready stakes
winners are those of Star Kingdom (through Marscay and Full and By, by Zephyr
Bay, a son of Biscay); Sir Gaylord, via Sir Tristram We should also note that More Than Ready is out of a mare with very strong linebreeding to the La Troienne family, and has explosive potential if bred back to horses carrying more of this strain.
