The Chosen One

It was a good spring for Phoenix Park graduates with the likes of The Chosen One and Princess Jenni doing the farm’s Janine Dunlop proud with gutsy efforts in Melbourne carnival feature staying contests.

Already a three times Group winner leading into the spring, The Chosen One was a first up winner over 1700m at Flemington en route to a close up third in Verry Elleegant’s Caulfield-Cup-Gr.1, 2400m and a game fourth in the Melbourne Cup-Gr.1, 3200m won by Twilight Payment.

And the 2019 Australasian Oaks-Gr.1, 2005m heroine Princess Jenni was also in good form, enhancing her already impressive record with a determined victory in the Bendigo Cup-Gr3.2400m.

Other classy horses to emerge from the relatively small Phoenix drafts include the Group winners Kinane, My Gold Bracelet, Aotea Lad, Mauna Kea, Montoya’s Secret, Samara Dancer, Nurse Kitchen, Gold Rush, Eclair Big Bang, Mosquito, Jue de Cartes, Rockdale, My Scotsgrey, Marju Snip, Able One, High Cee and Fooram just to name a few.

That’s quite an impressive list of graduates and buyers know that buying a Phoenix Park horse gives them a good chance of success. Which is why everyone will be keen to inspect their 2021 Karaka One draft…
