With fourteen yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in 2021, Vinery Stud will present one of the hottest pedigrees of the sale in Lot 287. By boom sire I Am Invincible, this yearling colt is the first foal of Gr1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner Risque (Darci Brahma), and it is not often that colts out of classic winners go to auction.

“The I Am Invincible – Risque colt is a very attractive colt and a real running sort of horse. His sire needs little introduction and his mother was a first class racemare out of New Zealand. We have had terrific results in Melbourne and we were quite keen to have a top notch horse on pedigree and physique to headline the draft and he is it. I think he will generate a lot of interest from a wide range of buyers. We have a nice mixture through the draft including some nice all Too Hard yearlings. He continues to demonstrate what a value stallion he amongst the ranks and these youngsters will be well sought after,” said Vinery’s Adam White.

Vinery Stud have put their full backing behind their new sire, Star Turn, and he’s already delivered with first crop runner Astrologer running third behind Shaquero on debut in the Gr.3 ATC Breeders’ Plate, while both Miss Hipstar and Pegasi are winners, and we are only at the half-way point of Star Turn’s first season of runners. One of the best mares at Vinery Stud must surely be dual Gr.1 winner Sacred Choice, and her Star Turn colt is Lot 301 at this sale. Both her first two foals to race are already winners, and she’s from the family of Gr.1 Golden Slipper winner Marauding. The other Star Turn colt is also bred to go early, being the first foal of winning mare Rather Sweet who run fourth in the Gr.2 Silver Slipper behind Astern.

One of the headline pedigrees has to be Lot 262, a full brother to Champion 2YO Filly in South Africa Entisaar (More Than Ready), and this colt is out of a stakes placed winning daughter of an imported American Listed winner. Also by More Than Ready is Lot 267, a half-brother to Listed Scone Cup winner Special Missile, whose dam is Listed winner Quiet Meadow. The other More Than Ready in this draft is Lot 143, a colt out of a winning full sister to Champion 2YO in NZ Ruud Awakening.

Vinery’s draft includes five yearlings by proven Gr.1 sire All Too Hard, who is having an excellent season with Behemoth and Alligator Blood as headliners. Three of these yearlings are the first foals for their dams, and all have excellent credentials. Lot 485 is a colt out of Antelope, a winning full sister to Gr.1 winner Miracles of Life (Not a Single Doubt); while Lot 257 is a filly out of Proposal, a winning daughter of dual Gr1 winner Sacred Choice. The filly, Lot 456, is out of a winning half-sister to Gr.1 VRC Oaks winner Aristia, while the other two All Too Hard colts, Lot 6 and Lot 271, are from proven winner producing broodmares.

With Shaquero from his first crop, the progeny of Shalaa will be sought after, and Vinery will present Lot 428, a Shalaa colt who is the first foal of his winning dam. This is the famed Procrastinate family, and his dam is out of a three quarter sister to recent stakes winner Villami. A well-bred Headwater colt, Lot 96, is a half-brother to Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Aspect and dual Listed winner Brown Ben, and his winning dam is a half-sister to group winner Sexy Eyes. Vancouver has started this stud career well with three stakes winners, and Lot 121 is a filly who is the first foal of a half-sister to Gr.1 Darley Classic winner Delectation and she boasts a black type filled pedigree page.

Vinery’s magnificent Scone property has sent forth some of the finest thoroughbreds in Australian racing and the next topliner to represent the farm could well be in the 2021 Melbourne Premier draft.
