Sanford Cliffs held in high esteem

IT is testament to the esteem in which Canford Cliffs (IRE) (Tagula-Mrs Marsh by Marju) is held that the Blue Gum Farm shuttler was chosen as the 2014 mate for Australia’s most successful broodmare Helsinge (Desert Sun (GB)), dam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard. One of the finest Irish bred gallopers to stand at stud in Australia, the five time Gr.1-winning miler defeated the likes of Rip van Winkle, Dick Turpin and Goldikova during a stellar 11 start career which saw him win seven races.

Bowness Stud & Vieira Group

“EASTER is Easter,” said Bowness Stud’s John North when asked to describe the quality of the stud’s 2015 draft, “they are all good! Yearlings entered for the Easter Sale have to present well at inspection to get in, and I am extremely happy with our group who have all progressed extremely well since that time, they look great.”

Corumbene Stud

WHILE it is a small draft from Corumbene Stud at Easter 2015, it is a select one, with the stud’s three yearlings chosen for their class, presence and style. Raised in lush surroundings at Corumbene, they hail from the same paddocks as outstanding gallopers Overreach, Sebring, True Jewels (all Gr.1 winning two year-olds) and Heart Ruler.

Edinglassie Stud

EDINGLASSIE Stud is nestled on the banks of the Hunter River near Muswellbrook and is steeped in Australian pioneering heritage. The property was the initial settlement for the White family when they came to the Hunter Valley more than 150 years ago, before later being purchased by the Oatley family, famous their yachting, equestrian and thoroughbred pursuits and of course for starting Rosemount Wines and as owners of Hamilton Island and Robert Oatley Wines.

Kia-Ora Stud

KIA-ORA Stud’s Easter 2015 draft is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the team at the Scone farm, and stud manager Alex Kingston is justifiably proud of the results. “The team as a whole has taken a lot of effort in preparing our yearlings and we are very happy with the quality of the draft.”

Newgate Farm

FIRST crop sons and daughters of William Reid Stakes-Gr.1 winner Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) are highlights of Newgate Farm’s Easter draft and Henry Field is looking forward to showing them off. “He is truly stamping his stock and they have wonderful minds to match,” he said.

Segenhoe Stud

“A CONSPICUOUS effort to buy high class stakes performing mares who tick the boxes with conformation and pedigree”, has resulted in a classy Easter draft for Segenhoe Stud. Described by stud manager Peter O’Brien as “a stunningly beautiful bunch of yearlings” the draft is the second for Segenhoe since being taken over by the Maloney family in 2010.

Souther Cross Breeders

THE quality of yearling sale drafts presented by Southern Cross Breeders is well known and Easter 2015 is no exception with a quality selection of well related youngsters by a good mix of proven and up-and-coming stallions. The Fastnet Rock connection is a strong one here with lovely youngsters by his first crop sons Foxwedge and Smart Missile, while another first crop star in So You Think (NZ) is also represented.

Torryburn Stud

MEMBERS of the flourishing Redoute’s Choice sire line make up the majority of Torryburn Stud’s 2015 Easter draft, including a son and daughter of this champion stallion. There are also several youngsters by his Oakleigh Plate winner Snitzel, who finished runner-up to Redoute’s Choice on the Champion Sire standings in 2013-14.

Yarraman Park Stud

YARRAMAN Park Stud principals Arthur and Harry Mitchell and their clients are enjoying great recent success with emerging stallion I Am Invincible, while the stud’s stalwart Magic Albert and up-and-comer Hinchinbrook are also turning out their share of winners. Yarraman Park is gearing for Easter with a stellar draft, one which kicks off with “a very attractive” Fastnet Rock colt.

Loyal Breeders get to share the upside

AUSTRALIAN breeders may not have access to outstanding American stallion Malibu Moon, but it is thanks to this horse that Spendthrift Farm has set up a base in Victoria . . . well in a roundabout way.

2017 Sydney Classic Yearling Sale

Slipper imprint on Holler's pedigree

DARLEY'S home bred Holler (Commands-Shouts by Strategic) was one of the first new stallion announcements for 2017 and Victorian breeders are bound to welcome him with open arms.
