Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24/9/2026

This policy explains how Stallions.com.au owned by Badranad Pty Ltd ABN 98 002 825 069 ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through the Stallions website, including the Bluebloods articles published on it (together, the "site"). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. What we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you use the site:

  • Account details: your name, email address, password (stored in a scrambled, unreadable form), country and state, your involvement in the industry, how you heard about us, your email preferences and, if you choose to add it, your phone number.
  • Enquiries: the details you enter when you contact us, email a stud or send a booking form, such as your name, email address, phone number, message, and the horse and billing details on a booking.
  • Your activity on the site: the pages you visit and things you do (for example viewing a stallion, downloading a stud-book page or following a stallion), the date and time, your IP address, your device, browser and operating system type, your browser's language and time zone, your screen size, and the website that referred you.
  • My Stallions: the stallions you follow and any notes you save.

We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious information) and we ask you not to include it in messages to us.

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you register, update your profile, contact us or use the site's features, and automatically as you browse (see Cookies and analytics). We don't buy personal information from other organisations.

You can browse the public parts of the site without an account and without telling us who you are. Some content and features, such as full articles and My Stallions, need a free account.

3. Why we collect and use it

  • To create and run your account and give you access to the site's content and features.
  • To respond to your enquiries and pass your enquiry to the stud or party you asked us to contact.
  • To send you the emails you've asked for, such as updates on stallions you follow and new articles.
  • To understand how the site is used (for example which stallions, studs and articles are popular, and from which states), so we can improve it and report on the site's audience. Where we share audience information with studs, advertisers or partners, it is combined and does not identify you.
  • To keep the site and your account secure, including detecting and preventing misuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files your browser stores for a website. We set our own (first-party) cookies to keep you logged in, protect forms from misuse, remember that you've closed the cookie notice, and recognise your browser and your visit so we can understand how the site is used. The visitor cookie lasts up to two years; the visit cookie expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.

We also use two service providers for site statistics and monitoring: Plausible Analytics, which gives us visitor totals without using cookies or identifying you, and Microsoft Application Insights, which records technical information (such as errors and page load times) so we can keep the site working.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, you won't be able to log in, and some parts of the site may not work properly.

5. Emails from us

We only send marketing and update emails if you've agreed to receive them. You can change your email preferences at any time on your dashboard, or use the unsubscribe link in any such email. We will still send emails needed to run your account, such as email confirmation and password reset messages.

6. Who we share it with

  • Studs and other parties you contact through the site: when you send an enquiry or booking, we pass on the details you enter so they can respond.
  • Service providers who help us run the site, such as website and database hosting (Microsoft Azure), email delivery (Mailgun) and analytics (Plausible). They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
  • Authorities where the law requires or allows it, for example to comply with a court order or to prevent fraud.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

8. How we store and protect it

Your information is stored on secure cloud servers. We use encrypted connections, store passwords in a form that can't be read back, limit who can access personal information, and lock accounts after repeated failed log-in attempts.

We keep account information while your account is open. Records of site activity are kept for up to two years, and IP addresses are shortened after 90 days so they no longer point to a specific connection. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make sure it no longer identifies you, unless the law requires us to keep it.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Automated decisions

We don't use computer programs to make decisions about you, using your personal information, that could significantly affect your rights or interests. If that changes, we'll update this policy to explain what decisions are made and what information they use.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can view and update most of your details on your dashboard, download a copy of your account data, or delete your account from the account settings pages. You can also ask us for access to, or correction of, any personal information we hold about you by contacting us (details below). We'll respond within 30 days and won't charge you for making a request. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll tell you why.

11. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first. We'll look into it and reply in writing within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): visit oaic.gov.au, phone 1300 363 992, or write to GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a significant change, we'll let registered users know by email or on the site.
