Arrowfield stallion Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice - Singles Bar) sired a winning treble around Australia on Friday. Anona scored at Ipswich while No Risque and Not A Dancer scored at Canberra.
No Risque (2 g Not A Single Doubt - Chancy Dancer, by Kala Dancer) showed plenty of speed to score in the $14,000 Actewagi 2yo Handicap (1000m), coming 2 lengths clear of Don’t Cross Mary (Gonski) at the finish.
A $70,000 Inglis Classic Yearling purchase, No Risque was making his racecourse debut.
Trainer Matthew Dale has enjoyed success with the Not A Single Doubt progeny and he enjoyed another winner when Not A Dancer (3 f Not A Single Doubt - Count The Dance, by Geiger Counter) raced home 2 1/2 lengths clear at the end of the $14,000 Brad White Plumbing Class 3 Handicap.
Anona (3 f Not A Single Doubt - Portland Park, by Woodman) revelled in the heavy conditions at Ipswich to defeat older horses in the $10,000 Ipswich Cup Marquees Maiden (1200m). At the finish she had 1 1/2 lengths over Who Cares Wins (Canadian Silver).

Arrowfield stallions past and present registered a winning treble in successive races at Gosford on Thursday.
Without Doubt (5 g Not A Single Doubt - Wave Hello, by Molokai Prince) got the ball rolling when winning the $16,000 Class 1 Handicap over 1600m, followed by Mounted (4 g Charge Forward - Empire Bay, by Polish Navy) who won the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1000m and then King’s Dominion (3 g Danzero - Fizzi Lizzi, by Royal Academy) took the Class 1 Handicap over 1000m.
Mounted is trained on track by Albert Stapleford and defeated Negombo by half a length. Stapleford paid $50,000 for Mounted as a yearling at the 2009 Inglis Classic Sale and yesterday was the third win for the four-year-old.
Without Doubt is trained by Bindi Cheers, who also shares in the ownership of the five-year-old who was winning his second race from 33 starts.
Golden Slipper Stakes winner Danzero now stands for Anthony Mithen at his Rosemont Stud near Geelong in Victoria.

Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice - Singles Bar) was represented by a wining double at Gosford on Thursday following the wins by Notasecondthought (3 c Parisina, by Last Tycoon) in the $16,000 Mental As Anything Maiden (1200m) and talented mare My Cookie Monster (5 m Sierra Nevada, by End Sweep) in the $16,000 Benchmark 70 Handicap (1100m).
My Cookie Monster was making it consecutive wins at the course and she was strong in defeating Boulevard Baron (Savabeel) a neck at the finish. A $135,000 Classic Yearling, My Cookie Monster was winning her fifth race from fourteen starts.
Notasecondthought made a winning debut for trainer Gerald Ryan and came into the race on the strength of a solid Rosehill Barrier Trial win. The $90,000 Classic Yearling purchase showed plenty of speed and he proved too good for older rivals in this open maiden, run on a dead track.
In winning he becomes the 102nd winner for his sire from 176 runners and he is bred on the same Redoute’s Choice / Last Tycoon cross as Queensland Derby winner Dariana.

Australian-breds filled all three placings in the $500,000 Raffles Cup (Sing Gr 1) over 1800 metres with Always Certain (5 g Not A Single Doubt – Akarena, by Akaaber) at Kranji on Sunday. Always Certain finished best to score by a length over Clear For Action (Commands) with Speed Baby (Fastnet Rock) a length away third. The 1800m journey was run in 1 min 50.4 secs, almost four seconds outside of the course record held by Superb.
With a 105 rating a start in the $1.35 million Longines-sponsored Singapore Gold Cup (Gr 1) over 2200m on November 13 will be dependant on the handicappers assessment of Always Certain’s victory and how much of a penalty he receives.
Trainer Michael Freedman was non-committal in declaring Always Certain a guaranteed starter in the Gold Cup and will wait and see how he pulls up and what ratings hike he gets before making any decision. “It’s been a wonderful day so far,” said Freedman who led in a quartet of winners for the afternoon.
“This horse has been deserving of a Group 1 win and he’s finally achieved it. During his three-year-old year and early four-year-old days he kept being denied by Better Than Ever. I just hope he is not too harshly treated by the handicapper. The way he finishes his races off I’ve got no doubt that he’ll run the distance of the Gold Cup. He’s by a sprinting sire in Not A Single Doubt but he just loves getting out over a distance.”

Champion sprinter Black Caviar (Bel Esprit - Helsinge, by Desert Sun) will face a small field of rivals again in Saturday’s Group 2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.
The champion mare has scared off most of her sprinting opposition with the $200,000 feature attracting just nine nominations. Black Caviar headed a field of six when she won last year’s Schweppes Stakes.
Black Caviar has comfortably handled six rivals at her past two starts. The five-year-old will face a new challenger on Saturday in the form of the former Australian Racehorse of the Year Scenic Blast (Scenic - Daughter’s Charm, by Delgado)
Scenic Blast has won Group 1 races in Australia and the UK. The gelding returned from a winless stint in the US racing on Lasix after a bleeding attack when unplaced in the 2009 Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin.
Speedy three-year-old filly Karuta Queen (Not A Single Doubt - Card Queen, by Final Card) is also among the Schweppes Stakes entries but her trainer Neville Layt has left the option open of running the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) on the Gold Coast.
Click here for the full entries for the Schweppes Stakes as well as the rest of the Cox Plate day card. The Cox Plate field will be declared on Tuesday morning.

Last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale topper, Godspeed (Redoute’s Choice - Regrowth, by Unbridled’s Song) finally broke through for his first win at Monday’s Mornington meeting.
Godspeed fetched $1.875 million at the 2010 Newmarket sale but a lack of maturity consigned the colt to defeats at his first four starts. The three-year-old had two runs as a juvenile as part of the Gerald Ryan stable in Sydney before connections shifted the colt south to join the Peter Moody yard.
Godspeed led all the way to claim the MRC Events Maiden Plate (1527m) at his fifth start. Moody said the colt has had excuses for his defeats but had plenty to learn before reaching his potential.
“He needed that for his confidence as he copped a battering at Flemington and before that didn’t like the wet first up,” Moody told TVN.
“He’ll be a very nice mile or a mile-and-a-quarter horse in time. Whether that’s this preparation or in the autumn, I’m not sure.
“With a colt like this, from the day they are born they get wrapped in cotton wool and they get to think they are a bit special.
“we have to teach them to toughen up and get down in the gutter and get a bit dirty. He’s done that today and it will be all forward for him from now.”
Godspeed is a half-brother to the Group 3 winner Colour (More Than Ready - Regrowth, by Unbridled’s Song). The colt also comes from the same family as Golden Slipper winner Forensics (Flying Spur - Prove It, by Dehere) and stallions Snippets (Lunchtime - Easy Date, by Grand Chaudiere), Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus - Singles Bar, by Rory’s Jester) and Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice - Singles Bar, by Rory’s Jester).

Arrowfield Stud recorded a stakes treble for the second successive Saturday, including a Group 3 double at Caulfield for the Hunter Valley operation.
Arrowfield’s champion Redoute’s Choice (Danehill - Shantha’s Choice, by Canny Lad) shouldered the load for the stud with all three stakes winners last Saturday. Redoute’s Choice was among the winners again when Sister Madly (Redoute’s Choice - Jade Tiara, by Bureaucracy) claimed the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
Sister Madly made a winning debut for the John Sadler stable after Segenhoe Stud paid $1 million for the Group 1-placed mare at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale earlier this year.
“It’s terrific, we’ve only just started this relationship with Segenhoe - Kevin Maloney,” Sadler said.
“He paid a lot of money for her as a broodmare and gave her to us up in Brisbane and asked us through racing manager Bill Mitchell whether we should go on and give her another campaign or head to stud.”
“She showed us that we should go on with her as she’s shown here today.”
A half-sister to Hong King legend Silent Witness (El Moxie - Jade Tiara, by Bureaucracy), Saturday’s win was Sister Madly’s third from 14 starts.
Earlier, Bliss Street (Flying Spur - Jade Diva, by Jade Robbery charged home to dead-heat for first with another Arrowfield Stud sire’s progeny Celebrity Girl (Starcraft - Dashing Granada, by Keltrice) before a protest left her as the sole winner of the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield.
Arrowfield sires produced the quinella to the $125,000 race when stewards promoted Hallowell Belle (Starcraft - Bella Inez, by Beautiful Crown) to second while relegating Celebrity Girl to fourth.
Karuta Queen (Not A Single Doubt - Card Queen, by Final Card) completed Arrowfield’s treble with an all-the-way win in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.

Patinack Farm
Patinack Farm held their stallion parade on Friday night at their Sandy Hollow stallion property. Held under lights and with Moroccan themed cuisine keeping guests fed and warm, the thinking outside the square approach was a great success and is sure to be copied in future.
The New South Wales based stallions Beautiful Crown, Casino Prince, Husson, new boy Lope de Vega, Murtajill and Raheeb were paraded in great order. All are eligible for the Patinack bonus scheme with the exception of Beautiful Crown.
Vinery

Vinery
Vinery Stud held parades on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Saturday parade was held under overcast skies with the rain somehow kept at bay. There was a real buzz to the parade with such an outstanding selection of stallions. Peter Orton welcomed guests and commented on the need to keep the Valley free from the double threat of more coal mining and the new mining option Coal Seam Gas, before handing over to Adam White who took us through the parade in knowledgeable style.
Big Brown impressed, the Kentucky Derby winner looking every inch a super horse. The established stars More Than Ready, Testa Rossa and Mossman all have proven themselves and the up and comers like Benicio, Dubleo and Excites give real balance to the roster. Apart from Big Brown and Onemorenomore who are both in their second year at Vinery Australia, more recent additions to the team include: Congrats, the Champion First Season Sire in the US; and Prix Morny winner Myboycharlie.
Our thanks to Vinery for an excellent parade and a fine breakfast!
Arrowfield
It was then a short drive up the road to Arrowfield following the completion of the Vinery parade and here we were welcomed by Arrowfield principal John Messara. John reiterated Peter Orton’s message about land use and mining, and welcomed a special guest in local parliamentarian and Racing and Tourism Minister, George Souris.
Handing over to commentator Susan Archer, and roving interviewer Jon Freyer, the parade went like clockwork. The threat of rain was heavy in the air, but miraculously, and again, all managed to stay dry.
Beneteau was introduced as the new boy on the roster and he is truly a handsome individual. Those who have seen him at the track can attest to that. Not A Single Doubt looked physically awesome and an interesting interview by Jon Freyer with Andrew Reichard showed up some interesting statistics on his early season runners and how he was identified very early as potentially a top stallion. And that has happened.
All American has returned from his stint at Darby Dan Farm in the US and he is the first stallion to do the “reverse” shuttle from Australia to America.

Arrowfield
On a roster which also includes Flying Spur, Manhattan Rain and Starcraft, as well as the separately housed Charge Forward (the alpha male scenario has been explained many times but Charge Forward does not abide the company of other stallions, so he lives up the road at Bellerive), the last to parade was the champion stallion Redoute’s Choice who once again has had another stellar year with 2010/11 stakes winners including Absolutely and King’s Rose wining Group 1’s, Melito and Rekindled Interest winning Group 2’s and Drumbeats, Sister Madly and Zingaling winning Group 3’s.
Great roster, wonderful hospitality.

A quartet of winners for Arrowfield Stud powerhouse Redoute’s Choice (Danehill - Shantha’s Choice, by Canny Lad) provided the platform for the Hunter Valley operation’s seven-win Saturday.
Hall Of Fame trainer David Hayes provided two of Redoute’s Choice’s wins with well-bred three-year-olds at Saturday’s Morphettville fixture. The Euroa-based trainer produced Niconoise (Redoute’s Choice - Nicola Lass, by Scenic) to win the Spring Gully Handicap (1200m) before Columbus (Redoute’s Choice - Kapchat, by Centaine) claimed the Spring Gully Honey Jam Handicap (1050m).
Niconoise is a three-quarter brother to five-time Group 1 winner Niconero (Danzero - Nicola Lass, by Scenic) and a half-brother to dual Group 1-winning sprinter Nicconi (Bianconi - Nicola Lass, by Scenic).
Columbus is a son of the Group 1-winning mare Kapchat (Centaine - Kapelle Lady, by Bandmaster) and is a three-quarter brother to stakes winners Princesa (Danehill - Kapchat, by Centaine) and Kaphero (Danzero - Kapchat, by Centaine).
The Ken Noble-trained Silent Predator (Redoute’s Choice - Katima, by Zeditave) won the Primatec QDA Handicap (1400m) at Newcastle while the former Hayes-trained stallion Bawaardi (Redoute’s Choice - Stella Artois, by Geiger Counter) took out the Sebel Plate (1400m) at Cairns.
Saturday’s quartet boosted Redoute’s Choice’s win tally for the opening week of the season to eight.
Flying Spur (Danehill - Rolls, by Mr Prospector) earned a double on Saturday when the Gai Waterhouse-trained De Burghler (Flying Spur - Invisible Touch, by Last Tycoon) won the R C Whan Maiden Plate at Newcastle while Flying Touchdown (Flying Spur - Sea Gypsy, by Rahy) claimed the Smiths Snackvend Handicap (2200m) at the Gold Coast.
Three-year-old filly Never Doubt Me (Not A Single Doubt - Anna Liffey, by Dieu D’Or) completed Arrowfield’s big day with her win in the Bronte Handicap (1300m) at Randwick.

Arrowfield stallion Not A Single Doubt was represented by Sunday’s $300,000 Group 3 Chairman’s Trophy winner Always Certain, who stormed away at Kranji to defeat Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) by half a length in the 1800m contest.
Though often unlucky in feature races, the Chairman’s Trophy was Always Certain’s second Group success as he is also the winner of the Committee’s Prize (Gr 3, 1600m) in 2010, when ridden by Danny Beasley.
Freedman said he had lost count of the number of times he rued the one that got away for the Bernard Lee-owned son of Not A Single Doubt.
“He’s such a talented horse and it’s very satisfying to see him finally win a big race for my friend Bernard who has been one of my supporters from Day 1,” said Freedman. “I think there were at least five times when I’ve gone home wondering what could have been if he had not been checked, etc.”
“The (Emirates Singapore) Derby didn’t pan out the way we wanted for him. He met traffic problems but he still ran super for fifth when the race was all over. But he pulled up so well after the race that I had a word with Bernard I may run him in the Chairman’s Trophy. I will now seriously look at the Gold Cup as I’m sure he will run a great 2200m.”
Always Certain was purchased by Freedman’s brother and Hall of Fame Australian horseman Lee for $60,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, has now earned more than $790,000 in prizemoney for the Horizon Stable.

A pair of extremely well bred winners at Rosehill has provided the platform for champion Arrowfield sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill - Shantha’s Choice, by Redoute’s Choice) to produce a treble of successes on Saturday.
Three-year-old colt Altius (Redoute’s Choice - Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) began his chase for a stakes success in the spring with a win in the opening race of the Rosehill meeting, H & B Cooper Glenrock Handicap (1500m).

Redoute's Choice produced a treble of successes on Saturday
The Chris Waller-trained blueblood is a half-brother to Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus - Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) and a three-quarter sibling to Elvstroem (Danehill - Circles Of Gold, by Marscay), who are both dual-hemisphere Group 1 winners.
Rosehill trainer David Payne prepared Redoute’s Choice’s second win of the Sydney fixture in the next race when Florentina (Redoute’s Choice - Celebria, by Peintre Celebre) claimed the Inglis Bonus Handicap (1300m). Florentina is a half-sister to the Patinack Farm-owned Group 1 winner Gathering (Tale Of The Cat - Celebria, by Peintre Celebre).
Stalingrad (Redoute’s Choice - Sakhalin, by Kingmambo) completed a treble for Redoute’s Choice when the gelding posted a 5-3/4 length win in the Channel 9 Welter (1900m) at Fannie Bay in Darwin.
Winners to Arrowfield stallions Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice - Snippets’ Lass, by Snippets) and Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice - Singles Bar, by Rory’s Jester) completed a quintet of success for the breeding operation. The Matthew Dale-trained Jackpot Queen (Not A Single Doubt - Cash Crazy, by Secret Savings) claimed the Timothy Hunter Handicap (1000m) at Caulfield while Zelaating (Snitzel - Donating, by Octagonal) took out the Mater Dei Special School Handicap (1200m) at Kembla Grange.

Squamosa (Not A Single Doubt) has been installed the $1.60 favourite for Friday’s Takeover Target Stakes (Listed) over 1200m at Gosford after drawing ideally in barrier three. The son Gai Waterhouse-trainee was most impressive when winning first-up in the Listed June Stakes over 1100m at Randwick on June 11.
Last year’s winner Border Rebel is next in the market at $8.50, the pair the only horses under $10
The race is due off at 3.49pm with the track currently rated a slow (6) and the rail in the true position.
Arrowfield Stud sires produced doubles at both Monday’s Mornington and Randwick Kensington fixtures with four individual stallions siring the winners.

Cantonese - white cap
The beautifully bred Cantonese (Redoute’s Choice - Kylikwong, by Red Ransom) led the charge for Arrowfield with his win in the Waverley Handicap (1550m). The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old is out of a Group 1-placed sister to the 2009-10 Australian Horse Of The Year Typhoon Tracy (Red Ransom - Tracy’s Element, by Last Tycoon).
Cantonese can also count Shaft (Flying Spur - Traceable, by Rahy) and Red Element (Red Ransom - Tracy’s Element, by Last Tycoon) among his close relations. Juvenile filly Pink Power (Not A Single Doubt - Kimash, by Jeune) began a double for Arrowfield stallions on the Kensington track with her win in the Waterloo 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m).
The Lee Freedman-trained Follonica (Flying Spur - Get The Hint, by Zabeel) started Arrowfield’s dual success at Mornington with her win in the Nepean Waste Handicap (1008m). Snitza (Snitzel - Alba Zitta, by Zabeel) broke new ground when he became the first of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice - Snippet’s Lass, by Snippets) to win over 2400 metres with his success in the Long Island Country Club Handicap (2419m) at Mornington.

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) will stand for $137,500 in 2011 after Arrowfield Stud announced its roster and service fees for the nine stallions it will stand. Redoute’s Choice was advertised at $176,000 in 2010 and headed the averages at last weeks Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney.
The reduction in fee for 2011 is a case of ‘meeting of the market’ according to Arrowfield Chairman John Messara.
“These fees have been set after close analysis of the Easter Yearling Sale results, and the prevailing economic conditions. We believe that our 2011 fees accurately reflect market expectations and offer breeders excellent opportunities for profit.
“The strong performance of our proven and emerging stallions – collectively responsible for 43 stakeswinners this season – gives us real confidence in the future.”
Messara confirmed that Hussonet (USA) will stand at Lindsay Park Stud in South Australia this season. As Australia’s leading active sire of Group 1 winners, he presents a significant outcross opportunity for many broodmares.
“Hussonet has been a great success story for us and we are delighted to place him in young, enthusiastic hands for the next phase of his career.” Messara says.
